Oh my, how Sparkle is so naive. I have not read any other post besides the original, forgive my ignorance.

Sparkle: Humans are fallable. This means christ (assuming he is divine) can set up a church, give it over to humans and at that exact moment mistakes are made. Soon, the church drifts too far out and becomes something entirely different than what Jesus prepared.

This is just one explanation assuming I’m catholic.

There are many more, and thousands if the reader is non catholic.

I was not intending to be irreverent to Mary. Rather, I was trying to demonstrate that, to someone without faith, the story lacks any credibility. One without faith will not come to faith by applying reason and logic to that story. I guess I was imputing sarcasm to one withoout faith.

Of course, once you have faith, you view the story quite differently, and the reverence that it demands is obvious.

Maybe you can understand this song of Rich Mullins called “Hold Me Jesus” on his CD “Songs” especially upon the Salvation Army band playing:

This is a favorite song of mine, escpecially tunes to this effect spending countless hours awake in the hospital. The lyrics are beautiful, but if you haven’t heard the music, the music and lyrics compliment each other so well. Thanks and God Bless.

Friends: As I even browse through all the numerous threads here in this “Non-Catholic” religion thread, I can’t help but noticing ALL the various dissentions, disagreements, challenges, world views, quarrels, assertions, etc. I ask you all, don’t you just want to REST IN OUR LORD? Why all the skuflle? Why all the confusion/;dissention? You must all know, I have been there, done that, and that it leads no-where. The Catholic Faith is THE ONLY TRUE FAITH of JESUS CHRIST HIMSELF. Why can’t you all just believe this?

If you must constantly bicker back and forth, I, personally can only tell you, it WILL cause strife for you and in your life. REST IN JESES. HE is your source of salvation, and in Matthew 16: 18-20 we can ALL rest assured in THE Church Christ established here on earth.

Yes, I long for my soul to rest in the Lord, but I know I will have to carry my cross and defend the Church until the day I die. If there is real confusion, it is best to discuss it all at length here. While there are numerous disadvantages to communiating online, the environment allows individuals to asks question more openly without identification out in the “real world” versus the virtual. If an individual is truly troubled and is seeking the Truth, I would rather them express their concerns on here than bottle them up inside. Thanks and God Bless.

I don’t know what it is about a Salvation Army
band, but it cuts right through my rationalizations
and defenses and goes right to my heart, bringing
with it the grace of God.

I’ll “get my lunch hooks” [as my father used to say:) ]
on a copy of that CD and let you know how I
sang along with Mr. Mullins. heh, heh

Well, feeling some energy today, so off to do
some “good works.”😃
