I thought I was too tired to go and tried to take a nap but then ended up not being able to get to sleep and just watched a tv show instead since it had already started. I feel bad. But I went twice last Sunday, to a Latin Mass and the new mass.

Am I OK? or am I gravely sinful for this action…

thank you.

No, you are not “OK”… There’s no such thing as “extra credit”. You have to go every single sunday of the year barring some extrodenary circomstance. I would go to confession before you receive the blessed sacrament again.

Crazetto iscorrect, you need to go Confession. You missed Mass and your reason isnt valid enough. I really can identify with the tired part because I am often like that on Sunday morning and I living in a very rural area have one option,Sunday a.m. Next time youre so tired think of it as something you can offer up to the Lord. I have no idea of your schedule but maybe you can nap later in the day.

It is surely not okay, but its good that you feel some guilt for it. It proves that you are sorry for what you did. In my eyes, for us to give up only one hour a week for our wonderful Lord Jesus Christ is not asking too much at all, considering there are168 hours a week. As long as you are sorry, you will be forgiven…just try not to do it again :).

GOD BLESS!

Skipping mass is in by means of habit is not okay. My prayer will go to you that you will see Jesus Christ face to face someday.

Hey Link - seems like you kinda’ already knew the answer before you asked. That’s outstanding btw - it is the sign of a well formed conscience.

We all make mistakes. Go to reconciliation and make it right with God.

P.S. - when my kids were little and we attended multiple Masses on the same day we used to tease that they were going into their “Mass Bank” - it was only later on they realized you can’t “pull one out of the bank” in case you missed.😃

I had no idea that “Catholic Guilt” was going to kick in so quick…

“Catholic Guilt”? How about guilt of a well formed contience that desires to what is right before the God of all creation =)

How long have you been a Catholic? 🙂

Another thing that you will learn - guilt is a good thing - it is a message from God that you need to go to Confession, which is a good thing, so that you can get to go to Heaven. 👍

Try to plan ahead for Mass by getting enough rest on Saturday night - or, if you really just can’t do mornings, go to an evening Mass, either on Saturday evening or on Sunday evening. 🙂

well, I was raised Catholic, baptized, first communion, confirmed. But you know, I was young, I was just going through the motions and doing what my parents wanted me to do. I believed in God, but I didn’t feel a whole lot of connection with the Church, etc…

Long story short, I became agnostic in my teens and early 20’s, never would have said I was an Atheist but I was def. anti-Christian, and looking back on it, I really do believe I was possessed by demons during this period. Became “born again”, six years ago and went to a few protestant chrurches of different denominations. never cared much about the denomination, didn’t think it really matter.

Anyway, here I am now, six years later, coming back to the Catholic Chruch. I realized how random and barren the protestant worship has become. I hadn’t even been to a service in over a year until Mass about a month ago. Luckily, I married a Catholic girl, who stayed true to the real church and never came over to the protestant side during the 51/2 years since I’ve known her. We’ve been married for 2 years.

This is a long answer to your question but I’m really excited God led me back here. I keep wanting to share everything I’m learning with a particular friend of mine, but he is very anti-Catholic, to the point of the whole anti-Christ stuff…

So about a month back into the church, and with passion and so much better understanding now. I thank God that this was His plan.

I’m going to go to confession for this and other sins on Saturday when our Chruch has weekly reconciliation.

How often do ya’ll go to confession. I feel like I could be in there every week at this point… Is this normal for some people? The priest is gonna think “this guy is jacked up”…

This may seem terrible, but I wished that my sin was only missing Mass. Someone once said a beautiful homily on the Mass. I forget most of it, but the bottom line was one mass attended what a great gain. One Mass missed what a great loss. I can really get that. But my sin. It still seems worse. God bless:thumbsup:👍👍

our family (with three members of the Tiber Swim Team- '92, '08 and '09) now makes a point to celebrate the Sacrament of Reconciliation at a minimum of every 4-6 weeks.
That way it is easier to keep our consciences more fully-formed and we respond more quickly to the small proddings of conscience that keep us on the straight and narrow 😉

really? seems like on that 4th week you could get hit by a car before you got there…

Would you go to hell if that happened?

I typically try and go monthly as well, unless I know I have grave matter on my contience. Then one should make every effort to go before receiving the blessed sacrament again (that’s ASAP to you and me).

If you die on the way to the confessional, then Gods mercy will certainly trump his justice.

Ok, but what if I’m not on the way to the confessional but I am going on Saturday but die tomorrow…
