I posted about a week back about going to my first Catholic funeral and what to wear. Thanks for all of your advice and suggestions. I failed to communicate that I am a Catholic as well. I was baptized and confirmed into the church last Easter.
What I think I did wrong was this:
At the funeral when it was time to take communion, I was walking past my friends casket and I started to lose it. Everything really hit me as I passed it and his wife, I was very moved. By the time I got to the father to receive the bread, I had no idea what I was doing, everything was just all out of sorts. When the father offered me the bread I was so disoriented that I said “Amen” and then I actually took the bread from his hand with my hand instead of allowing him to place it in my hand. I have no idea why I did this, it’s never been an issue before. I want to apologize for what I’ve done but I’m not sure how severe it was and to tell the truth, I’m quite embarrassed.
Any thoughts?
