so as an update the missionaries met with me yesterday again all concerned. Saying I would lose the gift of the holy ghost.
Well then I got to talking about finding my Catholic choir book and missing the songs in it. The missionies asked if they could take the book with them andcame backl this afternoon with a list of songs that we shared in common.
I don’t know how I feel about this… I love the music in the mass and well I guess I just don’t know why knowing what songs we have in common will help me. I just don’t know where to go tommorrow-- mass or to sacrament
I know this is a weird topic and I’m really sorry for asking this advice
Only the Mormons think they can REVOKE the holy spirit from you.
I don’t know of any other religion that thinks it can revoke baptism, ordinations, sacraments, etc. like the Mormons.
Can we assume that they think they are more powerful than God Himself if this was possible?
I don’t imagine that we have any songs in common with the Mormons. We certainly don’t have any that venerate Joseph Smith and “prophets”. Mormon roots are protestant, so I would expect any other common songs to be protestant.
Yes, you did make a huge mistake. However, those missionaries are carefully trained as high-pressure salesmen who lie by omission just to get you into the water to increase their member statistics. You were duped, plain and simple. Mormons have very poor retention rates for a very good reason A few months down the line when these unsuspecting converts find out what Mormonism really teaches, they’re out the door.
You need to spend a few hours researching the “meat” of Mormonism; what those missionaries held back from you. As a Catholic, you’ll be absolutely horrified at the blasphemy. Be prepared for when those missionaries come back trying to “love you back into” the Mormon Church.
If you went back to Mass today, you truly made the right decision and God and His True Church welcome you back with open arms.
