Hey,
Today in Mass, I sort of had this experience where I felt God was calling me to be a Catholic writer. He has blessed me with the gift of word, and I would like to use my gift to write a book of prayers to saints for teenagers. I always loved reading saint’s lives as a young girl, and I would like to sort of share my love with everyone else. I really don’t know what to do.

Can anyone help me?

Thanks,
Jeanne

This sounds like a very noble goal. What sort of help are you looking for? I mean, what is it that has you confused as to what you should do? I imagine that you would gather information on the Faith. Find some prayers that you love and may want to share with others. Likewise, study books on prayer. Find a good structure for prayer. Also be sure, know the Faith by researching the Catechism, sites like Catholic Answers, and consulting clergy faithful to the Church, so that you can ensure that no part of the prayers is unorthodox in any way; it can be easy to get confused in this age of New Age Spirituality…sometimes it can creep right into our prayers if we aren’t careful. It even happens to priests and religious, I’ve read, which shows that even the most well meaning must be on his or her guard, especially if we hope to share those prayers with others.

Ask a holy priest, who is faithful to the Pope and Magisterium, if he can read your progress and give his (name removed by moderator)ut. He should be able to affirm the goodness and orthodoxy of your work.

You may want to decide; do you want this to be a book of various prayers you often say, or a book sharing your experiences and your uplifting tips to help people pray? Or perhaps you plan for it to be a mixture of both?

If you love to write and you feel called to write for the Lord, it certainly can’t hurt to give it your all. I commend you, and I wish you the best. I will pray for you. 🙂

Blessings in Christ,
KindredSoul

I think the fastest way to get “published” is to start a blog. Many publishers are looking at blogs today for their new books.

I’m a writer, too, if you wish to correspond via email.

Blessings,
Cloisters
