What should I do? It was a mailer seeking funds for some Protestant University.

Is it just me - or are you likewise sick of these “the sky is falling” “the sky is falling” topics?

I mean really?

My dillema was relatively easy to solve. I threw it in the trash can and until now - when I read another thread with a similar subject , had forgotten about it.

Go to Church - receive the Sacraments often and take the time to learn the Faith and Pray. Read Church History.

Be an active Catholic.

Then you wont have to come to this forum and ask questions such as these.

I feel much better now.

Well, what I usually do when I get stuff like this is I contact who sent it to me and ask to be removed from their mailing list. Unfortunately this hasn’t worked with one organization I know. There is a newsletter that is occasionally sent to me called The Fatima Crusader. It is sent by an organization headed by Fr.Nicholas Gruner. Fr. Gruner has been suspended from the priestly ministry and does not have ecclesiastical approval of his activities. Well, I called them and asked to be removed from their mailing list and they said they’d remove me but I continued to get mailings from them. This really does not make me happy. Anyway, you can learn more about their site here:

ahhhhh… Someone that has my sense of humor!

I sometimes wish life was so easy, without the ups and downs that the economy offers. That my marriage was like the whipped cream on hot chocolate ALL THE TIME. There was never a disagreement, or decision to be made that kept me from sleeping… That I had so little to worry about that OMG… if an evil mailer showed up…I would actually have the time to worry about how to dispose of it so that I don’t inadvertantly release a demonic soul into the atmosphere, but not retain it in my house… was my only worry. (Ok, IF there were a demonic soul attached to it, I WOULD be worried and on the phone with my priest.)

Never mind the acid bath my eyes must take for reading the da**ed thing!

You wouldn’t believe what we go through when a Jehovah’s Witness comes to the door. It’s almost like Satan knocking…

NOT!!!

I adore it when JWs come to visit. Knowing a thing or two about scripture and theology (both ours AND theirs), and being VERY strong in my faith, I jump at the chance to confound them! Want to get rid of them quick, ask them to explain why they don’t believe in the Trinity, or why they believe that Jesus was a human incarnation of the Archangel Michael.

To their credit, however, I do have to honor their intense dedication to evangelism, and the fact that their publications always make Jesus and the apostles look like the Semitic peoples they actually were.

Here’s a suggestion that’s worked for me in the past. When you receive such solicitations in the US mail, do not open them. Simply write upon the surface of the envelope “RETURN TO SENDER - REFUSED”. They wil have to pay the return postage. Afte a few times they will get the message.

I hear you Mr. Burns, and I sure agree with you! :banghead:
(…And they vote too!) !!

Father Gruner is a good priest. I agree 100% of what he does.

Was there a particularly heretical message in the note? Or was it the fact that a Protestant school was raising funds? Or any school asking for money?

We have a Presbyterian college near-by. I would not say that it is a very religious school, though there is a divinity school. It is not as Presbyterian as Steubenville is Catholic. It is a rather well-to-do school, thus never asks for funds from the local community. I know of Catholics that attend the school. In fact, the men’s head basketball coach is a member of our parish - very Catholic. Often attends daily Mass and I have seen him at adoration the day of a game.

Or have I gone way off base?
