I found out over the holidays that I may be allergic to seafood. I had lots of shrimp and crabs (and fish) when I went back to visit my folks. I soon started to itch all over, and a week later started to develop respiratory symptoms. I had no idea I could be allergic to seafood, because I have had seafood throughout my life, and I was fine. It’s not conclusive yet, but based on my own research, and by the process of elimination, I’m pretty sure that that’s what it is.
As you can see, as a Catholic, this is a big problem! With Lent coming up, I don’t know what I’m going to do. I usually give up meat for all of Lent, and subsist on a combination of vegetarian things and seafood (mostly fish sticks), among other things. Now that I’m very possibly allergic to seafood, what can I do? This really sucks, as I love seafood.
Help!
