Welcome home! As you can see we have left the light on for you. :dancing:
There is a lot of good info above. No need to repeat that
You are in my prayers.

God bless,
Stephen

WELCOME!!!👍

I made the same journey as you. I came into the Church this Easter. My only regret is that I waited for 20 years to do what I knew God wanted of me because of my family. Don’t let anything or anyone stop you the Church is everything that one could hope for. Stay close to God and listen to Him.

If you sincerely follow Jesus you will find a very happy home in the Catholic Church as we are called to be one in faith and love.

Let me make an analogy with Martin Luther.

We are called to stay faithful to unity and work out differences.

If a family has some differences they are called to love and work out the differences, Divorce is not the solution.

Especially when Jesus prayed we would be one.

This is like a man who is married and has a drug problem. Then he gets a girlfriend who gets him to stop the drugs and clean up his act. Would he be right in divorcing his wife now and marrying the girlfriend?

Jesus wants us to be one in faith, that is one thing that really pushed me back to the Catholic Church. Almost 2 years later, it was the best thing I ever did.

I never thought that i would even think this, as my family believes the Roman church is not of God.

BUT

how can a divided church be from God?

most protestant denominations have gone further than Luther, where do we stop.

I was taught that Mary was just a woman yet even Luther saw her much more than this.

All heresies came from the Bible it was the church who protected the truth by explaining what the scriptures meant.

If the Holy spirit is the same today, yesterday and tomorrow how can we say that for the first 1500 years he was wrong.Because he was either right then ,or changed his mind, or he failed to reveal the truth to christs church.

If anything i have said is wrong and you can explain to me why i shouldn’t become a Roman catholic please!! please!! do tell me.
If you believe that Jesus is the Rock in Mat 16:18, then you’re a Protestant. Pay close attention to 1 Corinthians 10:4

Mat 16:18
And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter (Petros = movable stone in Greek), and upon this rock (petra - large massive rock in Greek) I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

Mat 7:24 ¶
Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock (Petra):

Mat 7:25
And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock (Petra)

Luk 6:48
He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock (Petra): and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded

1Cr 10:4
And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock (Petra) that followed them: and that Rock (Petra) was Christ

And yet another link that disproves this idea. smcenter.org/teachings_PAPACY.htm

I especially like the point from the link:
Matt. 16:17 - Simon in Aramaic = grain of sand. It would thus be pointless for Jesus to change the name from “grain of sand” to “pebble.”
Name changes are very important Scripture. God does great things with those whom he changes a name.

Come on home Damo73! The Bride of Christ [His Church] eagerly awaits your attendance at The Wedding Feast.

I’d start with Christ’s Mother and Ours, that was the final staw for me to join the Church. Powerful.
Ever notice how, wherever the Mother of God is reverenced, truth prevails? and wherever she is not reverenced, error prevails?

i have noticed that! It’s because Our Lady is to us what the ark of the covenant was to the Hebrew people. Whenever they had the Ark with them, they won the battle, and whenever they didnt’, they lost the battle. The ark bore the presence of God to them, Our Lady bore the presence of God to us. If we don’t have the ark, Mary, then we are missing one of the most important parts of our Christian faith.

With all due respect to our non-Catholic brothers and sisters in Christ, we welcome you with arms wide open. May God bless you as you grow in faith in Him and love of Him. May the Holy Spirit grant you wisdom and knowledge and guidance.

Welcome, Damo. I can find no flaw with your logic nor with your inexorable pull towards or fascination with Catholicism. I have been a protestant my entire life and what turned out as a minor and personal research project over a year ago, now has me smack in the middle of an RCIA program as I journey towards conversion. The more I researched, the more I was certain I would be able to uncover some fatal flaws in Church theology or doctrine. Arrogant presumption on my part… It’s been a difficult road at times. Marian theology was tough for me and I didn’t think I’d make it through it. Now, I pray the rosary every night and consider it to be one of the most beneficial prayers I know. Anyway, I hope you find your way into the Catholic Church as I hope to do next Easter. -Brown

“TO BE DEEP IN HISTORY IS TO CEASE TO BE A PROTESTANT.” ~~Cardinal Newman

Amen to that. 🙂 I’m still amazed by the richness of the Catholic faith and all that is to be found within the Church, and that’s said with the knowledge that I’ve only scratched the surface.

Isn’t it amazing, what god will reveal to us, even after many years! Damo, we all welcome you, along with the Angels and Saints in heaven. You are in our prayers. May God bless you and may you grow ever closer to Him (I’d recommend the Sacraments as an awesome way of doing so)!:blessyou:
Your brother in Christ,

I’ll definitely be praying for you, Damo! 🙂

Just keep in mind that this Church is very big…many different types, leanings, ideas. So don’t expect perfection from the members or even the priests or bishops, for that matter.

But the Church Herself? Without spot.

Blessings to you.

The roman church is not united is it? Start asking around on any single Scripture and you won’t get a united answer. Just read this board! 🙂

If any person, Catholic or non-Catholic, wants to know what the Catholic Church teaches, they can simply pick up the Catechism of the Catholic Church, and they can get a definitive answer on all matters of faith and morals. No other Protestant Church has anything that comes close to that, because no Protestant Church has that kind of unity of belief.
