… I will go home tonight then and not go to that far away mass.
(I am still not totally sure if the 26th is a holy day of obligation in Switzerland.)

First of all, my priest told me I didn’t have to go to a mass somewhere “acrioss the hills” that involves a long train commute after work if I miss mass during the day in my community because I am doing the Lord’s work caring for the disabled.

Second of all, I did go to Midnight Mass on the 24th AND to a Christmas Mass last night (which would even be the eve of the 26th…), only that that one was in Italian (I went to the wrong one…) so I didn’t understand hardly anything, but I reread the scruiptre readings for the day aat night…

So I think I will go home tonight after work and rest, spend more time with my parents… Am I being scrupulous for still feeling unsure?

You can be at peace as you have fulfilled the Mass requirement. Relax and enjoy your family!

I was just still worried you know.

The mass I went to last night was in Italian which I don’t speak.
And I got there a little bit late (but I made it during the Gloria so I should be ok right?)

I just got off work now, I am really tired. Even though my priest told me I didn’t have to go after wpork today to such a faraway mass, I am still glad I went yesterday evening. That one was not so far away. That was good.

I’ll try to feel at peace now.

Hi Kathrin… Happy New Year to you! On more than one occasion, I have attended Holy Mass celebrated in Spanish… which I do not speak (only a few words and phrases). As long as it’s your intention to attend Mass, and pray along as well as you can… Mass in Italian is fine! I watched Mass from St. Peter’s, on Christmas Eve… (EWTN) and was reminded of how Universal our faith truly is. The different parts of the Liturgy of the Word, were said in many different languages.

I am working on Jan 1, another Day of Obligation, too. So I assume that a New year’s Eve mass would conver that, right??

Yes, the Vigil Mass on New Year’s Eve… will cover the Holy Day Obligation, for New Year’s Day. Call your parish, to find out what time the Vigil Mass is… just to make sure. God bless.
 
I have many options for masses on the evening of the 31st.
I think (therefore I am… 😉 ) the parish I belong to is doing some kind of ecumenical service, so I will go somewhere else. But I’ll be in the bigger city anyway because I am meeting some family members later at a restaurant, and there are a lot of churches there, many of which are offering masses on that evening.
