Yes I do!

I can’t stand the things. I find the statement “Heritage Not Hate” to be offensive and untrue.

I am from VA and now live in NC. I have spoken to many fans of this thing and EVERY one of them- though denying it- shows obvious or less obvious tones of racism in their speech and defense of their “Heritage.”.

I especially get a kick out of the history revisionists who re-define the Civil War into some kind of injustice committed against the South that lead to the “War of Northern Aggression.”

I know of other charming sentiments like my mother-in-law who calls Lincoln not President but “Mr.” Lincoln.

Does anyone else hate Confederate flags and wish they would pass away- except for museums maybe?

Yeah, I lived in Texas and greatly disliked the confederate flag. To me, it symbolized racism and treason. I find it hard to sympathize with those who see it as a symbol of Southern Pride and heritage. It just seems so antiquated and backward. Sort of like the whole notion that “the South will rise again!” I’ve experienced racism in Texas (I’m mexican-american) so I’m sure those experiences color my view on the confederate flag.

My first year roommate in college had a large confederate flag that he wanted to hang on the ceiling of our one-room dorm. The last thing I wanted to see when I shut my eyes was the Stars and Bars! I told him my views on the flag (and held my temper) and he was gracious enough to keep it folded up in a cupboard. 👍

I guess if I try my hardest to see the other side, I can imagine that those in the South who come from old southern families that were victimized by the total war of the North (such as Grant’s infamous March to the Sea) might hold up the confederate flag in defiance to those memories. Still, I wish people would give it up and realize that more often then not the flag is not viewed in that light by those who don’t have such long and bitter memories.

That’s quite a story. I hate to seem cold but it’s almost a funny story- like something you’d see in a wacky comedy! And the other guy goes “WHAT?. . . What’s wrong?”

I see this Mexican American guy with this look "what the. . . "

Yes, I did get a laugh out of it afterwards. Wouldn’t have been so funny if he had put it up on the ceiling though. 😛

You hate these too?

“The Alabama NAACP President Edward Vaughn criticized the Trail Maids participation saying that the dresses reminded him of slavery.”

LOL

I wonder how many people really know what a “Confederate” flag looks like versus the “Confederate Battle Flag”?

Here is some “historical” information regarding the differences:

sonofthesouth.net/leefoundation/Confederate_Flag.htm

As you will see…the flag that most “rednecks” fly is actually the “Confederate Battle Flag of Virginia”…not the “Confederate Flag”.

While I was born in the South, raised in the South,…an am not a “redneck” or racist by any means…I know the difference in the flags.

Helps to know the difference… 😃

BTW…the remainder of my family, my ancestors and immediates are all from the “north”…🙂

I LOVE the Confederate flag, as it represents what has been lost in this nation…no more are there states rights…no more do we have personal responsibility and accountability…our forefathers fought and died courageously to free the slaves…only to have it thrown BACK in their faces for more than 140 years. We’ve had to live with the constant cry of “racism” ever since.

I LOVE the Confederate flag, because it reminds me of a time when people knew their places in society…women didn’t try to be men and men weren’t acting like women…children were recognized as the beautiful gifts they are and social behaviour was proper and dignified. Not like today where anything goes and no one cares!

I LOVE the Confederate flag, because it reminds of the great love of this land that so many had…they proved their love for this nation by dying on distant battlefields, fighting brothers and cousins…for the sake of freedoms and liberties they held so sacred. Today…if its not a realty show on TV, most could care less about liberties…unless of course it means selfishly taking liberty over another in anyway you deem appropriate, as long as your “happy”.

I LOVE the Confederate flag, because it represents a time when hard work and self-discipline earned one respect. Not like today…where the more you can feed off another, the more you are esteemed…i.e., any liberal in Hollywood, who can neither act, dance or sing, let alone “entertain”…yet happily takes our hard earned dollars while they spit on and laugh at the values of those who made them who they are!

Oh no…I see the Confederate flag…and if anything it makes me want to cry…cry because the nation we once so loved we were willing to sacrifice all that we could to preserve it for our childen, has become today, a nation that is willing to sacrifice our children to save the immoral lives we desire, spitting on our country and all the lives who came before us while we do it.

Darn it neat- now I have to clean up my computer!

I can’t say I am surprised by your views though!

Could you share more interesting tid-bits of Southern History for us? I always get a kick out of this stuff!👍

Oh and those dresses sure are. . ah . . . poofy!

It’s Heritage Not Hate I guess. . .

Oh, and I am Pro-life but I am not sure how this relates.

Apparently you need to be schooled a bit on Southern History…because the post and your arrogant comments demonstrate you seem to know little about it.

Which views are those?

I haven’t provided any history to you.

The problem with the Stars and Bars is not what it represented in the 1860s. The problem is that since then it has been coopted by various hate groups, and THAT is what most people think of when they see it–the KKK, neonazis, and skinheads using it as a rallying banner.

Yeah that’s pretty much the typical response I get. Thanks for typing it out so I didn’t have to!👍
