I trust in God, but I do not trust myself… is that possible, because that’s how I feel. Is this a bad thing?
It is not bad. In fact, it is encouraged.I trust in God, but I do not trust myself… is that possible, because that’s how I feel. Is this a bad thing?
Trusting God is crucial. Not trusting oneself is good if you mean that in a spiritual sense. But there are psychological disorders like emotional deprivation disorder and scrupulosity where one feels that whatever one does is wrong, and becomes emotionally and practically paralyzed. I think that’s different.I trust in God, but I do not trust myself… is that possible, because that’s how I feel. Is this a bad thing?
When I feel things like joy or liking someone, I feel like it’s wrong, that I shouldn’t because I should be focusing on God only at the moment. Thoughts of someone i may think I like comes to mind and instead of focusing on the now and giving Thanks to God I’m daunted with anxietyTrusting God is crucial. Great place to startI trust in God, but I do not trust myself… is that possible, because that’s how I feel. Is this a bad thing?
Does a man betray his wife if he does not think about her 24/7?When I feel things like joy or liking someone, I feel like it’s wrong, that I shouldn’t because I should be focusing on God only at the moment. This thread title is exactly how I feel, so that is why I started reading. My question is how do we follow God if we don’t know if we can trust ourselves to discern what God is saying? That is where my struggle is nowRecognizing we can’t trust ourselves is a huge step. Let’s face it, we are all sinners. Only through God’s grace can we get the strength to follow him.
God Bless You.
Me too, its a good thing IMHO. We are open to doing the will of God.I trust in God, but I do not trust myself… is that possible, because that’s how I feel. Is this a bad thing?
Thank you for your reply and prayers. I do go to adoration, every week and I do believe that is the only thing that keeps me functioning in this life.My suggestions would be to follow God’s teachings. Reading the Gospel is a great way to get to know Jesus. It also shows God you have an open heart. Also, have you spent some time in Eucharistic Adoration. It’s a beautiful time to talk to God about everything. It’s also a time to listen. Receive the sacraments frequently. His grace through the sacraments will help you. And pray.
My opinions only. Hope they help. Praying for you Anytimequilter and for Nairovg.
Jesus, I trust in You.
God Bless you.
How I go about this, personally, is by first being clear what does “trusting in God” means for me.This thread title is exactly how I feel, so that is why I started reading. Yes I agree 110% but I am at the point in my life where I am not considering actions that are bad for me. My issue is when there is a choice to be made and its not a sin either way - or maybe how I am looking at the situation I don’t see that either way is wrong+JMJ+

Trusting in God for me is this: God cannot give me what is, ultimately, bad for me. Oh of course some things might happen that might hurt me, or deprive me of things like possessions, health, or limbs, but in the long run I know that God lets them happen to me because they will further down the road give me good things, like a better character, showing how my family loves me, showing what really is important, and of course getting to heaven. Therefore, I know that, if I use all the talents and gifts God has given me, any decision that I make today will, in consequence, be good, nay, the best that can happen to me and my loved ones, and will give glory to God the most, because I trusted in Him.
What I said goes for ALL decisions in life.Yes I agree 110% but I am at the point in my life where I am not considering actions that are bad for me. Like switching jobs…its not a bad thing to leave one job for another… but is it the choice God wants me to make??
or should I go to the adoration chapel at lunch and spend 30 minutes or should I go at a different time when I would be able to spend more time? is it lazy of me to go when the visit is convenient for me?
those are the type of things that I would like clarity on… .soemthings don’t have large life changing outcomes and others do - - - but it doesn’t mean either option is bad for me
When I was referring to receiving the sacraments frequently, I was referring to the Eucharist and Reconciliation. I think Reconciliation is greatly under utilized. I get so much clarity from the priest.Thank you for your reply and prayers. I do go to adoration, every week and I do believe that is the only thing that keeps me functioning in this life.In a strange way it has become the center of my current struggle - I know it sounds stupid but its true
I do wonder how you define “frequently” when you say to receive the sacraments frequently. Maybe its just a matter of as often as possible?
