I nearly did become a mormon once, strange thread to make I know but come on.

I still have the book too. To get to the point, are you a convert to LDS? What made you do it finally?

I knew many missionaries and made great pals with them. They stressed that I should read this section of the Book Of Mormon.

Moroni, Chapter 10 verse 4

10:4 And when ye shall receive these things, I would exhort you that ye would ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not true; and if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you, by the power of the Holy Ghost.

For those that do not understand this verse please note that when it reads this “4 And when ye shall receive these things,” it is basically saying “once you have read these things”. In other words, if you have heard but do not yet believe. It is requesting that you pray to God himself and ask if these things are true.

This is what nearly done it for me, I really did almost go into it fully. I often wonder why I didn’t though.

If you asked God the Father, in the name of Jesus, I’d say He’s telling you those things written in the 1800s was not true.

Because there are differences between the teachings in Book of Mormon and the Bible. The Bible tells us if another comes preaching a different Gospel, even an angel from heaven, it’s not true.

The Bible also tells us that the scriptures are ‘God breathed’, or ‘inspired of God’. Then nothing was written until the 1800s? I doubt it, especially in light of the founder of the Church of Mormon, and his ‘activities’.

Then the Bible warns us of adding to scriptures or taking away from scriptures.

The Church Christ built did not corrupt to the point of losing it’s valid priesthood. If it had, then Jesus was wrong. It also indicates that Christ could not build a Church to last.

There are way too many reasons to list them all.

God answers prayer, and sometimes the answer is no.

I’m saying it’s Catholic. I would not consider LDS. I believe in Christ’s ability to build a Church to last as long as He said it would, unto the consummation of the world.

That’s all Christ started, and the Mormons came along 1800 years after the Catholic Church and 300 years after many of the Protestant Churches. It’s really that simple.

I dislike the “burning in the bosom” suggestion. We can walk into any church of any denomination on any street in any town and you will find people who have felt that “burning” regarding their own Church. How does one know which burning was correct? I have had Mormons tell me that the other burnbings were from Satan. Hmmm…so how do we know that the others are from Satan and theirs is not?

Mormons have also told me that the appearances of the Virgin Mary at Lourdes, etc were from Satan.

Seems to me if you are going to base a Church on a good feeling, everyone is free to do what they want, as long as they have the “burning”.

Don’t get baptized before your questions are answered.

God wants us to ask lots of good questions and He has provided the answers,

The Holy Spirit (the burning feeling) is in every church no matter where you go. Christ paid the price for us, God is far too powerful to be restrained to a single denomination.

That’s all Christ started, and the Mormons came along 1800 years after the Catholic Church and 300 years after many of the Protestant Churches. It’s really that simple.

But that doesn’t really defeat the LDS theory though.

I’m saying it’s Catholic. I would not consider LDS. I believe in Christ’s ability to build a Church to last as long as He said it would, unto the consummation of the world.

But people can corrupt religions, yet Christ’ message remains always as it did.

I will not let them rush me, my salvation would be a stake (theoretically). Don’t worry about that.
