My parish is attending a seminary and retreat house for day and I would really like to attend .
As discussed before, my husband is an atheist and when I told him I would like to go he really rejected the ideal and have me a hard time . He stated “That’s how he lost people” I was just in shock to just heard those words .

I will pray for him , I really want I attend, it’s only for the day but him being upset with me and basically told me off, hurts a lot .

I could see if I was doing something wrong but I am not and I am not ashamed for my love of god and will continue to serve .

Him not talking to me hurts a lot , I feel so lost . I ask god for direction … All I want to do is become a Dynamic Catholic , the gift of Mass brings me Joy, my Parish brings me Joy … My husband not so much , he thinks he’s losing me .

I’m lost

Have you done anything special for him lately? Like cook his favorite meal or invite him to do something? Try not talking about religion so much with him…

I think I’d ask him, “If I went away for a day trip to the big city with friends and spent the same amount of money having a nice lunch and buying a new dress, would you mind?” If he says no, then say, “This happens to be what I would enjoy doing with my free time. Is there something special that you would like to do that we can put on the calendar for you?”

Also, do you have kids at home? If you’re leaving him at home alone with several small children and he normally doesn’t do that, that could explain his hostility to the idea.

Best wishes!

I had a similar time with my husband. I have been a widow for 15 years now. I had prayer support from many friends, and with the help of the grace of the Lord I was able to show my love for him in many ways. He acted annoyed at my growing interest in the faith.

I prayed a lot for him, and finally three months before his death he went to confession of his own volition and he said a great “burden” left him! Our whole family rejoiced. He resisted all those years because he wanted the peace he saw in me and others, and finally got it for himself! 🙂
