I want to be a cantor. Any advice? (Thanks)

It does seem like a rather strange thing to say. Seems a bit harsh toward the choir. I’ve been singing for a long time and it isn’t the strangest thing someone’s said to me. I don’t think she has any motives other than wanting me to be catholic and to participate at mass more.

She might be just excited about your coming confirmation. Is she in the choir herself? What is your take on the musical ability of the choir?
 
Also, some choirs are exclusively elderly folks. So maybe just having someone under the age of 60 is an improvement in some aspects.
