Hi,
I’m a Roman Catholic 16 year old American kid. (Sorry if this is the wrong forum to post this on) I’ve done alot of thinking of what is it that God wants me to do in life.
I kind of feel like being a Marine is it. But I’m not soo sure it’s what the Catholic Faith wants. Obviously the Catholic Church and the Pope is against war.
I know if I join I’ll have no control over where I’m deployed. If we do some un wrongful invasion that is against God’s will I’ll have no choice but to fight.
I also have a bad feeling as is…What if the Islamic “Extremist” faith that of Al-Qaeda is right? Obviously they are very strongly for what they think. Sometimes I wonder…IF I join am I going to be a stupid, "War fighter continuing a stupid war that’s been going on for thousands of years(crusades).
The fact that I want to join has nothing to do with action or killing people. I want to help people. The Marine Corp is a very tight family that I would love to be a part of. Notice how when a Marine gets hit in battle he’s often complaining that he wants to be back with his guys.
Also I want to help with the rebuilding of countries and the peacekeeping aspect. I know there’s other job were I can do this, but I really like the Marine Corp.
I was watching the Catholic Channel on TV and a nun said when she was wanting to become a nun she asked for a sign of Rose. And her friend brought her a Rose and she took it as the sign.
I did some praying and decided to ask for a similar sign. I asked for some flowers for my Mother. Well I walked downstairs and sure enough there was flowers there on the table. But here’s the catch, they were fake plastic ones…lol…and they might have been there before I asked for the sign. So now I’m kind of stuck because I don’t have a clear sign. I have about just over a year before I need to make up my mind.
