I am looking to buy my pastor a brand new Roman Chasuble for his 25th Anniversary ordained into the priesthood, only one problem…I can’t find a website with Roman Chasubles. there are like none. if anyone can help i’ll love you forever. thanks.

I don’t know about him, but most of the priests I know HATE being given vestments by people, they will wear them once to look grateful and then will hang them up forever. Most priests all have particular styles and shapes and sizes they prefer.

It might be more prudent to earmark a donation to the church for a new chasuble of Fr’s choosing, and tell him you were thinking a roman but whatever he wants is fine.

i know for a fact that this priest doesn’t mind when people buy him vestments. i work closley with him as the head altar server and MC at all local functions. i also play the Organ sometimes, and sing in the choir. he always talks about gifts people gave him, chasubles, and how he loves them. i know exactly what he likes, because i pick them out… I just want to know where i can find them.

I don’t know where to get them, but I did want to say if you can get one do it. A wonderful gift is one that has a lot of heart and work in it. Good thinking on your part. 👍

Plus, even if some didn’t like it, I would really doubt a priest would HATE anything. Dislike, ok, but not HATE.

I think you might want to have a look around this site:
CHANTAL ARTISANS
They don’t have any Roman Chasubles on the site, but if you contacted them, you could get a quote on one.
I am personally aquatinted with this group of nuns, and I can vouch for the quality and beauty of their work. Sister Gemma Maria is an incredible model for us to live by.

Yours in Christ,
Thursday

I’d ask him, in a casual way, which he prefered, the Gothic or the Roman.

Great Idea!
And give him the link to CHANTAL ARTISANS, have him look around and see what styles he likes. (Can’t help it, I’ve just got to help these nuns!)

Yours in Christ,
Thursday

P.S.
Everybody, please circulate this website wherever you think it might help.

when my wife and i were married nearly 50 yrs. ago . she arranged that her wedding gown be made into priests vestments , they are still in use today.

If you need a nice vestmentright away you can get it from Richard Luzar at www.lizarvestments.com or of you have the time to wait for a custom made vestment, go to www.susanmaria.com I have purchased two from luzar and six from susanmaia. 🙂

Google “Elizabeth Morgan”, she is Anglican, but has a section on her website of Roman vestments, too.

Can I ask what is the difference?
The difference is that the fiddleback chasuble has a shape like a fiddle, and is the vestment prefered by priests who celebrate the traditional Roman rite Latin mass. The Gothic style is the longest. It flows over the shoulders. The semi-Gothic is between the fiddleback and gothic chasubles in shoulder length. The Novos Ordo priests wear anything, except the traditional fiddleback. They wear, Anglican, Episcopal, etc type vestments.Sad.😦

That is not entirely true, not for every priest who celebrates Mass in the Ordinary Form. The fiddlebacks from our parish archives came in handy when our previous pastor injured his foot ( or ankle) and was on crutches for a while. At that time the Gothic style was mostly used in our parish. Our present pastor has his own Roman style vestments. He also uses the fiddlebacks from our parish archives.
