hi, i am 14 and i want to convert to become a catholic. i was raised church of England and had first communion and confirmed when i was 11. my friend is catholic and has talked to me about it and it seems to me it has a good atmosphere and i have researched the religion and i prefer it to C of E, but can i change after i have been confirmed? i feel a little like i might be going back on my religion, but then i also think C of E was created by a king, he was doing it only to get a divorce, and going against his own religion so C of E seems less right to me that catholic. Also i know where my local catholic church is and i wanted to ask the priest/ vicar (i dont know which one >.<) all this but i was too shy and he was on the phone outside. please help, thankyou 🤷

God will never condemn anyone who seeks truth and submitts to it. You should read the story of John Henry Newman who was very influential in the Church of England and, in an effort to prove the Catholic Church wrong, found that it was the one, true Church and converted.

By the way, welcome to CAF. Your quest, at your age, is admirable. 👍

Agreed! 👍 Come Home!

Yes, you can definitely convert to Catholicism, even though you have been confirmed in the Church of England. Members of your church might look down on you for it, but remember that following Christ will not always be easy! God gave you the desire to find Truth, and he will give you the courage to pursue this Truth. I’ll pray for you!!!

What do your parents say or have you spoken to them yet?

While you are a minor you are still under your parents guidance and authority. I would advise that you talk to them first and arrange a meeting with a Priest with your parents consent and ask them if they want to attend as well. Always honour your parents.

You are still very young and your quest for the Truth is admirable. Good luck on your journey home. 😃

You can certainly still become Catholic.

Yes, you are right. King Henry the Eigth created The Church of England because he wanted a divorce.

i have not yet, at the moment my mum is in hospital and my nan is looking after me and my younger sister, i was going to when she gets home properly. i have slipped it into conversation and my mum says she doesn’t quite agree with it, she says its too strict, but she said if you wanted to be one then you can. although this was in theory. shes quite understanding.

Well I am very sorry to hear that your mum is in hospital. I hope she gets well quickly. It’s good that she is understanding and may even be supportive and not try to stop you. Take your time about bringing the subject up, since she hasn’t been well. You’ve got time to convert, there’s no rush. May God bless you.

Welcome Home.

Cheers to you

you have certainly come to the right place to seek knowledge with this site and community we can help you answer a lot of questions

even though you are confirmed in the C of E you can convert, because at the time you believed that C of E was the true church but with further research realized it broke from the Catholic Church and the Catholic church is the true church so with your new found knowledge and desire to seek the truth and the true Eucharist it is perfectly fine

p.s. Welcome Home :harp:

Well, the Catholic Church retained the fullness of the Sacred Tradition, so in a sense it is kind of strict 😃 But we also retained the fullness of the Sacraments, and the Real Presence of Christ in the Holy Eucharist, so it becomes a light burden, because He is literally there for you! 🙂

I invite you, in the meanwhile, to read the enciclycal letter Ecclesia de Eucharistia (no worries, it’s in English ;)) and the Compendium of the Catechism of the Catholic Church, a wonderful summary of the Catechism, which in turn is the summary of the whole Catholic Sacred Tradition 🙂

And for a bit of a challenge, if you really want to rise to the top, after the Compendium go ahead and tackle the Catechism itself! 😃 It will definitely grant you an unprecedented understanding of Christianity and of the Sacraments, especially the Holy Eucharist.

We are praying for your mom 🙂

thankyou everyone who has commented 🙂 i think it’s the right way for me. i will go and speak to the priest at my local catholic church asap<3:D:thumbsup:
