I did not feel that your post was positive. You come to a Caholic Board and tell the Catholics that they have done more to strengthen your LDS faith than anyone. Whether or not you intended it, your post came across as sarcastic, insensitive, and condescending.

6-11-08, you state you used to be mormon but returned to the Catholic Church.
1-16-10, you talk about when you “were” a practicing Catholic.
From what I have read from several of your posts, you were Catholic,then lds, then Catholic, then lds.

I will add that I have learned quite a bit, directly or indirectly, by participating in this forum for a much longer period of time than I ever would have thought when I accidently came across it as a result of a Google search, if I remember correctly, on the words “divinity LDS” which I had written a brief write-up about long ago, elsewhere.
I have appreciated a lot of kind comments and have shrugged my shoulders at a few less than kind comments, but realize that pretty much “goes with the territory.”
Sorry I was tied up all day, amid the sort of “lion’s den” experience that I suppose was predictable, but oh well.
One of the reasons for this post is to wish you a wonderful Mothers’ Day with your daughter and her family.
You deserve a truly lovely day with them. I have wondered how the Messiah concert turned out and hope they and you are doing well.

Wow! I don’t find LDS posters to be very persuasive at all. In fact I find the entire basis for the religion to be in serious question and I’ve given considerable thought to the issue. If you feel strengthened in your LDS faith because of LDS posts you’ve seen here, what is it about the posts that you find strengthening? Is it the logic in the arguments presented, the apparent conviction and/or sincerity of the LDS posters, or is it something else? Because, truly, I just don’t see how anyone reading the same LDS arguments I’ve seen posted here would be strengthened in their LDS faith. So, please enlighten me on how your faith was strengthened in some specific way. It would be beneficial to all of us to know.

I agree your original post appears inflammatory. It’s like meeting someone from another country, and saying, “Wow, I’m so glad I met you! Now I’m FOR SURE I never want to live in your country!” How are we supposed to take that?
I agree that sometimes the Catholics have not been as persuasive as they could have been - and that they have been downright mean and unproductive sometimes. But so have the LDS and Protestant posters. I, personally, think that the Catholic faith is the fullness of faith, but I think it usually takes more experienced (professional) apolgists to convince die-hards.
But I will say that before I read some Mormon threads on CAF I was a defender of Mormonism as a “different” but still Christian religion. However the LDS posters (not the Catholics) have convinced me that there’s a lot less true Christianity and a lot more blind following than I used to believe. There’s something strange about someone who will not question their own beliefs every once and a while…

Have you ever heard a compliment worded something like “you don’t sweat much for a fat girl”? That’s kinda what this sounds like to me. I have become so tired of “LDS speak” it is hard for me to even read the Mormon threads anymore, much less take part in them. For you to claim that you have been strengthened by our alleged weakness and then to act offended when we don’t thank you for your incredibly positive message is consistent with my experience of LDS Posters.

Let me get this straight—you feel the Catholic posters in here have failed to make their case for Catholicism so your conclusion is to accept a religion by a false prophet in the 1800’s who was convicted by a jury for peep stone-gazing, who has “translated” Egyptian scrolls that proved themselves to be totally NOT what he claimed they said, who “translated” bronze plates full of anachronisms and fake archaeology. Catholics dropped the ball in here so you decide to accept a religion that believes God has human form, has a goddess wife, the planet Kolob, spirit babies in pre-existence, a religion that used to discriminate against blacks as priests because of their “cursed” status according to Mormonism but now does ordain them, a tithing life-controlling worldwide cult that once practiced polygamy and thinks you can retro-baptize people and eternally marry folks in secret sealing chambers. I have to agree with several of the other posters. Your post does seem rather inflammatory, and un-Christ-like.

Huh? It sounded to me like your OP was inflammatory and meant to say that they all only convinced you more that Catholicism is boloney and Mormonism is indeed right!? I don’t see any other way to take it, Annie?
