Jehovah’s Witnesses are much more dedicated than anyone else. They get out there and do the hard work, and not afraid of it either. They wont go to war, and not involved politically in any way. (Exactly the same as Jesus Christ and the early Christians) They remove people that are not sorry for gross sin that is in contradtiction to Bible standards. They are deadly serious about serving the Almighty God
I would not criticise them as they are the real deal in my view.
I am looking at them closely now.

At the time, I was pretty lost spiritually speaking. I was living a debauched life. Yet, my faith in the Lord was not too far away.
Early on, I had a very bad experience with a nun/teacher. It left me with a bitterness about the entire church.
They (JW’s) got me reading the bible again. Then as time went on, I impulsively bought into the entire thing. Indoctrination was complete.
I have no regrets. I truly believe that the Lord wanted me to experience all of those years as such.
It was a tough thing for my extended family, and there I do have some regrets as I was like a bull in a china closest with them. (i was arrogant about it)
Nonetheless, in some ways it was all positive for all of us.

I was kicked out for challenging the 1914 date which they now themselves have set aside, now calling “that generation that will not pass away” as us ALL being of that “contemporary generation”.
I also had challenged the prohibition on blood transfusions which they now have watered down themselves. This after we refused a life saving blood transfusion for our own daughter 2 years after we became JW’s. (That is a long story for another thread)
Of course not. I am not here to convert you or keep you from what you yourself want or do not want. only you, and you yourself have the burden to choose wisely.
How is it that you do not see the WTS as not being “mainstream”?
You can apply this scripture equally to all in Christendom.

I’ve knocked on thousands and thousands of doors. You do realize however that it is a very ineffective means of spreading the word as hardly anyone is home anymore during the week day, and on the weekends as well. Nonetheless, they do put in the hours.
For the most part, true. however, this in and of itself does not give them sort of prof as being “the true religion”.
That, my friend IS NOT TRUE, has not been true for about 17 years.

When you were kicked out, did your friends from the church shun you? Do any of them keep in contact with you or try to make you come back or do they treat you like scum, etc.

We have a Kingdom Hall not far from here, although it’s been a fair while since anybody knocked on the front door. The last time I think I had an argument with them.
There’s a Mormon temple not far from here either. Looks like the opposition is gaining strength around here.
However if JW’s did knock on the door, what’s the best way to argue with them? I’m not expecting it to happen, but one never knows.
My other reason for wanting to know this is that a neighbourhood girl I grew up with when I was young converted to the JW"s years ago. As far as I know she still is a JW, and since by the pricking of my thumbs, I think we might end up resuming contact in some way, I’d like to know the best way to (politely) get here to question her own faith.

sadly in all my years working with RCIA I have never known a case of a Witness who completed the process and entered or returned to the Church, almost always it seems to me because of family pressure, as to their actual doctrine they seem very fuzzy and muddled. They seem only able to give random quotes which they seem unable to explain even to themselves or to debate or defend. For that reason my question would be, what was your greatest personal hurdle in your return to the Faith? Did these revolve around points of doctrine and practice, or were they other issues such as family affiliation, pressure from the leaders etc.

What specifically did you study?
I re-read a number of the early writings by Charles Taze Russell, founder of the Watchtower movement, a number of Catholic Apologist writings, specifically, Karl Keating, Thomas Howard, etc. etc.
Also some long hours reading on this webste and others,

With all due respect, my suggestion is not to argue. It is a futile effort.
However… They claim to have not church doctrine (required articles of faith) whichn is false. Celebrate Christmas, a birthday, a national holiday, take a whole blood transfusion, smoke a pipe, cigar, or cigarette and you will be kicked out as an apostate.
They have church doctrine.

I’m still hurdling!
- The Trinity doctrine, but I must say it is getting clearer as I read more on it.
This is one doctrine that is pounded out of you as a JW. There is a fair amount of argument and some independent (non JW) writings on the matter.
However, keep in mind that even this does not negatively affect my faith in our lord. I have full confidence in the Holy Spirit leading me. I believe my past experience is grist for my spiritual future. - It bothers me to see the Church allowing priests to be involved in politics, backing this party or that party, which brings me to #3.
- I’d like to see the Church be more pro-active in reigning in those in the clergy who are puling to far away from the core of the Church.
