Couldn’t find him, but found St. Longinus, who pierced Christ with his lance, and St. Cornelius, who was converted after Christ’s death, with his whole family (story in Acts).
Interesting story/video about the centurion you describe. A BBC video, “Tales from the Madhouse”, tells stories of eight people (I beieve) who encountered Christ in their lives, but turned away from Him…this centurion was one who tells his story. Included: Pilate’s Wife, and The Friend (Judas). Riveting.
Nope. He was pretty much an example given by the Father at how slow the Israelites were in believing Jesus compared to the pagan Romans and the Gentiles, and to show the life-giving creative power that is Jesus’ word.
Sacrifices are necessary to obtain holiness. They are fundamental to christianity.Personnaly I don’t believe a person can be saved without sacrifices.Jesus says we must carry our cross daily. We sacrifice our opinion when someone says evil about us.Sacrifices can be in many forms. But they always are a giving of oneself to the betterment of someone or something.Jesus said “and love is the greater of these”.Love entails sacrifice.
