In elementary schooI was taught to pray to Mary and had a plastic statue of Mary and the Christ child. That glowed with a light .
How were you introduced to pray to Mary?

I’ve a photo of my first day of school at St Patrick’s with the miraculous medal pinned to my pinafore. That was 1967. But Our Lady was an integral part of our faith upbringing. This statue of St Anne with her daughter Mary has been in our family for 100 years. (A recent re-paint was not the best though and I plan to get it repainted.)

I was received into the Catholic Church when I was 29. My RCIA classes never specifically taught Marian devotion. But I instantly looked to the Blessed Virgin as my mother. And I started just talking to her, if that makes sense.

Our mom taught me and my siblings the prayer Hail Mary, as well as the Our Father, and Glory Be, to pray at bedtime.

@Emeraldlady, that is an exceptionally beautiful statue of Ste Anne and the Blessed Virgin.
