I watched a teenage show with my niece

:eek: As I looked on to the show she was watching I noticed the teenagers on the show were all good looking, bright, smart, very colorful and anti-church. At the end of the show the last word coming out of the mouth of the tall blond cheerleader girl was ‘Christianity will not survive!’. These kids are being bombarded with this sentiments. I quickly tried correcting this anti-church talk but my niece just quietly listened and moved on to another t.v. in the house. Did anything register? Not sure. :mad:
 
Which show was it? The industry hates Christianity and they will let you know it, you just have to see it

The industry will get worse and worse and the kids now have no idea how to deal with it. It went from Elvis dancing being offensive back then, to Miley twerking on anyone and anything. And people like her are their role models.

With the rise of social media and the internet, its tough trying to show this new generation whats really going on

I’m sure your intentions are good but it’s not your place to admonish her. If you want to be a good influence, you might say instead something like, “It’s too bad that a show with [whatever positives] feels like it has to bash Christians to be popular.” I’m not sure what you told her, but serving as a good role model is going to get you a lot farther than lecturing.

You might inform her parents about the show, and ask them what they think and if they know she watches it. If they know and don’t care, there is not much you can do other than the above. (Of course, also pray for her and all young people who are bombarded with these messages!)
 
Call me cynical, but without even the name of the show, I’m skeptical of this. Is there any chance that you misunderstood and this was a show for adults? Are you sure you heard the line correctly? Are you sure that the character who said it was a protagonist?

I just don’t see a mainstream show for teens saying this. Especially when you consider that upward of 70% of the country is Christian (assuming you are in the US).

I’m sorry but ANYTHING coming out of a major network is putting out things like this. It’s the new thing you know. There are kids shows that do this too, our country may be 70% “Christian”, but that doesn’t mean the other 30% are the ones who produced this.

Some people will never see this…we need to wake up people!!
 
Um… yeah, I’d like to know the name of this show as well. It would really surprise me if this wasn’t in a news article or blog somewhere.

Uh, hello, you say this is constantly happening. If that’s the case, it won’t be any trouble for you to give me a concrete example or two of kid’s shows calling out Christianity like that.

Something like this would have caused a nationwide media circus controversy.
 
For the skeptics the show was call Aukward. Christianity was laughed at. Crucifixion, Virgin Mary, Saints, and purgatory weren’t spared/ The main character decided on making a Christian retreat in which the teens partied on and dressed in religious outfits. She dressed as a devil and yelled out something like I’m a Devil! Personal and self strength was pushed on to the viewers and those following religion were mocked and belittled. Scary times we live in.

What is a “teenage” show, exactly? A show about teenagers isn’t always going to be appropriate for kids. The best thing to do is turn the junk off and find some other way to spend your time.
 
No offense to anyone that watches MTV, but I wouldn’t have high expectations of that channel anyway. Jersey Shore was aired on that channel, correct? As is Teen Mom. I just don’t expect anything great from them anyway. That being said, this is not breaking the constitution, but it IS offensive. And the show, in my opinion, shouldn’t blatantly attack religion. I don’t go around and bash Atheists, Mormons, or Muslims, and I certainly wouldn’t want any bashing of any religion (or lack thereof) on television. It’s just wrong.

I don’t normally hang around with my niece to watch these programs because I know I will get upset. Hollywood creates these children and teenagers as sexually heightened know it all’s and portray the adults (parents) as laughable goons. How does one stop this! All we can do is pray …and not encourage viewing of these programs. The nerve of HOLLYWOOD!:tsktsk::slapfight:

How can we stop this? I think that has a complicated answer. I can give some thoughts.
You can make a more noticeable and material impact if you pray and DO something about it. You can protest the channels. You can (somehow) come to own a channel and make good, wholesome family shows that mention religion every now and again. Those are the two that come to my mind immediately. I appreciate EWTN and I know it has an impact on Catholics. However, more channels need to do SOMETHING about immorality. It shouldn’t be cheered on, it should be condemned. But oh well, I don’t own a major network like Fox, so I can’t do anything MAJOR about it. All I can do is protest them (as in boycott.) 🤷

Unfortunately, there’s hardly anything we can do directly, but that won’t stop prayers and protests.

I would be great if there was a way to stop it. I like your idea on more channels like EWTN that would carry exceptional actors and producers. I must admit. Those shows are well constructed and holds ones attention. We need shows that captivate our teens interest.
 
I can guarantee that MTV will be blocked in my house, among many other channels when my daughter gets old enough where she might have interest in what’s on those channels.

I’m of the age that I grew up with MTV. I was around 10 when it started up. Of course, back then it was only music videos. I watched it change, and now its one of the largest liberal/anti-Christian/pro-homosexual/pro-promiscuity propaganda machines out there. I place a lot of the blame for the attitudes and behaviors of much of the Millennial generation, and those born after, on the likes of MTV. It has harmed our culture almost irreparably.

I know my daughter may find a way through the internet or friends, but I’m not going to make it easy for her.
