I will be leaving the Catholic Church

I can so see why The Catholic Church has people leaving it in mass! I recently returned to the Catholic faith about 3 years after having been a non practicing one for about 7 years. I recently enrolled in RCIA classes cause I have never been confirmed. For that matter I know of tons of Catholics who are also not confirmed. But…

I just want to say thank you to all the Catholics on this forum who have 100% convinced me that most Catholics are about the most ignorant, close minded, biased, hypocitircal and hateful group of people I have ever meet.

I can’t even begin to describe how many of you don’t even come close to what Jesus asked us to be.

I really like how so many of you claim that:

1. You all seem to know God’s will with 100% certainty. I mean wow if your in direct contact with God please tell us his phone number cause I myself have tons of question to as him.
2. Many say the Catholic church is infalliable…yeah…right…The catholic church is ran by HUMAN BEING who make mistakes. By saying the church is infalliable you just justified The Crusades, The Spain Inquisition, and more recently the Child molestion probelms. Why oh why do you follow your leaders so blindly without question. So many of you view the Pope as some kind of GOD or something.
3. Catholics pound on that large green book The Catechism of the Catholic faith as if it were the bible itself! I think most of you take more faithand stock in that book than you do the bible
4. Jesus sat down with tax collectors, drunks, and (gasp) whore. to try to help them and teach them, but yet when I see someone who walks in a church that looks even remotely different from the other parishioners I see you all eyeballing them and talking about them behind there back like they were pond scum or a leeper. All while listening to the “Love Your Neighbor” sermon. I mean Lord forgive us if a gay/or lesbian person ever attended a service! Lord forgive us if someone with green hair walks into a catholic church to maybe find some answers about the Holy Trinty cause sure as hellfire damm near all of you will be freaked out by it! Love your Neighbor… but only if your neighbor looks and acts like yourself right.
5. My parish well now my former parish I guess has alter girls. I can remember people freaking out over that concept alone! I mean how closed minded do you want to be here people! Oh NO that little girl is up near the Eucharist (gasp) Oh the shock and horror of it all! Someone get her way form it NOW!!!
6. John Paul II wait let me say John Paul II THE GREAT was awesome! He was and still is in my book THE BEST POPE EVER I really miss him! But this Pope Benedict XVI appears to be trying to take us back to the day before the Second Vatican Council. Yeah… let us return to the dark ages and get rid of them evil alter girls and the like. Lets get some Crusades going again and kill all the non-belivers. I will not lie here I sincerely believe Benedicts former life as a Nazi really does not help at all. Think about it people do you realize the current Pope may at one time have been order to shot and kill the Pope that precedded him!
7. This is the main reason why I well be leaving the church. I have seen a Catholic Priest leave the church recently. And I see about 98% of you CONDEMING THE MAN TO HELL FOR IT!!! You forget the years of service the man has given to others. You forget how many others this priest has helped. You forget how many time this man has listened to others confess their sins and mistakes… but when the priest himself makes one OH BOY ITS TIME TO SCREAM UP AND DOWN ABOUT HIM GOING TO HELL AND ABOUT HOW HE LET US ALL DOWN.

You same people who condem the man turn right back around and go back to your little closed in world and preach “Love your neighbor!!” What you SHOULD be reading is this one First take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye" Or better yet re-read the story about the women caught in the act of adulty. Let he who is without sin throw the first stone.

I will be quiting my RCIA classes and seeking out other faiths.

I hope this post doesn’t get deleted, but if it does its just more proof that anything non-catholic and of an opposing viewpoint will never ever be tolerated and must be destoryed at all cost. Lord forgive me for having my own opinon and thinking for myself and not following people blindly huh?

It sounds like you have a lot of anger towards other Catholics. That I understand. There’s a billion of us, and there’s lots to dislike.

It also sounds like you don’t really have a good grasp of what the Church teaches about itself, salvation, the liturgy, the sacraments, etc.

I find it ironic that you condemn Catholics for being judgemental while being judgemental yourself. Is it possible that the label of hypocrite works two ways?

You accuse Catholics of following blindly. Guess what? EVERYONE follows something or someone blindly, to an extent. If not Christ and the Church founded by Him upon Peter, then whom will you follow?

Anyway, you seem already mad enough to be jumping up and down, so I won’t add to your aggravation anymore. I wish you well in your search for a religion that suits you better, and pray that you may find your way back to the Catholic faith.

Christ is with Us!

I just want to say that I would expect to find sinners in Church. What did you expect to find perfect people who don’t need salvation?
Lord Jesus Christ Son of God Have Mercy on me, a sinner.

Every denomination is made up of sinners. I joined the Catholic Church for two reasons. First, It is the most biblically based. Second, The denom. I was in had turned away from biblical truth. Funny how it works differently for different people.

Wow, sorry to hear. I can understand how you feel about the alter girls issue.

I think there are different kinds of Catholic parishes… at mine, it is an inner city one where people with green/blue/red/orange, whatever coloured hair participate in mass. Nobody judges as far as I can tell.

We have alter girls too.

My advice to you is to seek out Jesus. If it is not with the Catholic faith right now, so be it. Learn more about Jesus and the bible if that is where your path is leading you right now. Pray about it.

I am sorry you have so much resentment towards the church.

I think it is OK to question things.

If you did stay in RCIA, you might learn more about the Catholic faith and what it is REALLY all about. Some of your criticisms that you posted are the types of criticisms I hear from people who aren’t involved in the Catholic faith. You can attend RCIA and not be confirmed.

How long did you stay in RCIA?? Just curious.

Such anger. I’m sorry that you are so dissillusioned with the collection of imperfect sinners that help make up the church. I pray that you will be able to let go of all that anger and return some day. Perhaps next time you will stay in RCIA long enough to learn what infallibility actually means and why the deposit of faith (of which the catechism is part) really is as important as the bible.

I am sorry to hear you are holding the Catholic faith responsible for the hypocrites who claim to believe in it.

If I did that I wouldn’t be a Catholic either.

You can believe in Catholicism and love the Church Jesus created without having to be a GOP member. Look into the Catholic Workers and other Catholic groups that more ascribe to the spirit of Catholicism. Try also to remember that outside the U.S., most countries do not use the Church as a political platfrom to browbeat others and to save $10 in taxes by taking away school lunches for poor children.

It’s something wrong with America, not with the Church. Whatever you do, take care of yourself. God be with you.

Really? How can a man be condemned for leaving the priesthood? The Catholic Church doesn’t even excommunicate such a person – they have the authority to let him quit acting in his priesthood without condemnation. I know former priests in that situation. By the way, the Church goes out of its way to clearly state it doesn’t make judgments about what God is going to do in the next life.

I find many Catholic go thur the motions at church but not many UNDERSTAND what those motions mean. I on the other hand have taken the time ti study it and after having done so is why I wil in fact be levaing it

I am well versed in the Catholic faith and all seven scaraments. (notice you didn’t list a number there) I can list all 7 from memory can you?

Do you mean Liturgy of the Word or Liturgical year because they are different.

I can also list both the order of Mass and the Litrugical year FROM MEMORY

Heck for that matter can you average Catholic define what a litrugy is?

Would you like to know what cycle year of reading we are on? Does your average catholic even know about years ABC for your given liturgical year?

Heck ask one average catholic parshioner to list 1 holy day of obligation and I bet most of them can not!

Since the Catechism is, by and large, a liberal interpretation of the teachings of the Bible, I think you’re appealing from King Log to King Stork here. (Not calling the Catechism a log or the Bible a stork . . . )

I’m with you on this one, but as jmcrae points out, these people are complaining because the Catholic Church has moved in a more “liberal” direction on this one. Remember, this board is a forum for people to grouch–they wouldn’t be so noisy if everything was going their way.

The main reason I am answering you is this last point. If you are going to leave Catholicism for doctrinal reasons, or even for personal ones, I am not going to criticize you. I have objections to Catholicism as well. However, you should not leave on the basis of biased, unfair, even blatantly unjust and uncharitable judgments. Your dichotomy between the last Pope and the present one is completely cut loose from reality. On the whole, the current Pope seems gentler and less dictatorial than the last one. Just because he wants to give traditionalists the freedom to worship in an older style does not mean that he wants to roll back Vatican II. He has never in any way called for killing unbelievers. You are gravely sinning against charity and truth by suggesting such a thing. Furthermore, your claim that he was once a Nazi is nonsense. He was nominally enrolled in the Hitler Youth, because it was the law. There is no evidence that he ever attended a single meeting or took any part in HJ activities. Whenever people bring this up, I know that they are speaking out of bigotry and hatred rather than a love of truth. I don’t know what is driving your anger, but you have no right to utter falsehoods and slanders just because the Catholic Church has hurt you.

No, they have acolytes, readers, etc. Actually, now I come to think of it I’m thinking of Eastern Catholic churches in terms of acolytes. We should let the Orthodox speak on this, but they definitely have rules about women in the altar area that do not apply as strictly to laymen.
