why would St. Paul state that anyone who accepted the Eucharist unworthily is guilty of the blood of Christ if it were only symbolic? (1 Corinthians 11:23-29) WHY DID MARK,LUKE AND MATT. NOT TELL THEIR AUDIENCE IT WAS A SYMBOLISM
 
While I believe in the presence of Jesus at communion, I reckon memoralists would say that it is about remembering Jesus, and focusing on what he has done for you. By taking communion while unapologetically living in sin, one is saying that they are above Jesus in a way. I don’t know lol.

Just so you know, I am not taking your bait, just answering the question from a possible perspective of a memorialist.

Keeping in mind that I DON’T consider Holy Communion to be symbolic only:

Why do you ask if you don’t expect a reply?

I believe that Jesus is really present in communion. However I believe Paul’s meaning is that if we eat unworthily then we are dishonouring the blood that Christ shed for us on the cross.

It is similar to Hebrews.
For in the case of those who have once been enlightened and have tasted of the heavenly gift and have been made partakers of the Holy Spirit, and have tasted the good word of God and the powers of the age to come, and then have fallen away, it is impossible to renew them again to repentance, since they again crucify to themselves the Son of God and put Him to open shame.

We do not literally crucify Jesus again but that is the effect.
 
I was wondering what kind of judgment St. Paul was talking about?
