I would like a debating partner!

**I am interested in apologetics , and im very interested in Defending my faith and knowing why and how we do things -

with this knowledge I can help my Catholic friends and Family to know why we do the things we do

and I wan’t to be able to quickly defend my faith when I hear claims of untruth or misconceptions about “Catholics”

I have been reading some books I bought here from CAF - so I do have several resources

I would prefer someone who has a VAST knowledge of the Catholic faith so they could help see my weakness and help me strengthen it

it doesn’t matter what Religion you are

I figured we could discuss over Private messages - as you could send me a Question, and and Ill reply and you can critique

I’m game for playing “devil’s advocate” from a protestant perspective (but I won’t tell you up front which “flavor” of protestantism I’m adopting). It would need to be done by e-mail; CAF PM is too cumbersome for a conversation. PM me your e-mail address and I will send you mine.

If I do this, I won’t make it easy.
 
I would like to be a partner, and I need it. I am struggling here, so maybe you could really help me! Email okay? I’m there most of the time, anyway.
 
If you are willing to entertain an LDS person in your effort, I am willing for some discussion. I have a reasonable grasp of Roman and general Catholic theology, and an excellant grasp of LDS theology as well as an extensive background in Jewish and Christian theology - and I am impossible to offend. I’m also a bit overwieght so I make an easy target to throw things at.

Im thinking about starting a thread in the water cooler section - and we all subscribe to it, we can all discuss in there back an forth - so we don’t have to clutter our PM boxes and other people can see too!
 
I can give it a go from an atheistic perspective. However, be aware that I may very well make you question your faith.
 
Is it ok for me to just lurk on your thread. I really learn a lot from the debates.
 
I tell you it is not the same in a website/combox atmosphere. You are fooling yourself if you think you can become an Apologist by debating someone online.

You need to get out in the trenches and go for it LIVE.

It is one thing to read a post and then take the time to refer to CAF or the numerous pro-Catholic sources for your rebuttal.

Your ability to defend the Faith can only be tested by a face to face encounter with somone anti-Catholic.

Believe me, I’ve read many, many books from CA yet my Protestant wife still gives me a “run for my money”. I am waiting for the the first Morman or Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society person to come to my door to test out my learned skills.

Talk up your Catholic Faith with everyone you meet. You are bound to get someone who disagrees with the Church eventually. How you respond will determine how ready you are to defend the Faith. However, do not get discouraged if you do not have an answer. Be honest, tell them that you do not have an answer right now but you will research it and get back to them.

Yes I agree and I do that - but I would like to get somewhat aquainted with all the topics of objection

so I can have a base or foundation to start with

and with other peoples insight I can build on that
