the 10 virgins are waiting for their Bridegroom.
that would be Jesus…
there are 5 wise and 5 foolish
my interpretation of this is that there are 5 who really follow Jesus and 5 who only give him lip-service or what have you.
then the end comes and the 5 foolish are not ready… so they are not allowed into Heaven.
But are they allowed into Purgatory? I mean, after all, they are “virgins” which would seem to imply that they are purified at least enough to … be called Christians… if not very good ones…
any comments would be greatly appreciated… never had a priest exlain this in a homily…
(maybe because it had to do with either purgatory or hell or both)
