I would like to have a creche in the house for Christmas - where can I find a perfect baby doll to play Jesus?

I have a plain wood cradle that I would like to make into a creche scene for Christmas. I would like to have a baby doll in some hay, swaddled with some natural linen, and a halo behind his head.

I need to know where is a good place to find a life sized baby boy doll, but I just can’t afford to spend a fortune. Even a simple plastic doll would be fine for now until I can “upgrade” next year maybe. 🙂

Any ideas? If anyone has any links to anything online that would be helpful as well.

Have you checked the toy department of most stores? Or a toy store specifically?

You might be able to find a decent doll at any of these places.

Target, Kohl’s, the dreaded W-mart, Toys R Us all have inexpensive baby dolls, some boys, some girls, some neuter for easier play by children.
 
I guess I’m making this harder than it has to be?? 😊

I’m going to Target and Toys-R-Us this weekend, maybe I’ll find something there. I just thought they had mostly name brand stuff like Barbie, and not your generic DOLL.

Sorry - you can tell I’m not a mom, and don’t go into the toy department unless I am buying my DH Batman stuff. 😉

Berenguer Boy Dolls

He’s a bit smaller than most newborns, at 14 inches long, but he really looks like a newborn (as opposed to most baby dolls, that look like they’re a few months old).

South east michigan, you get snow don’t you? How bout this, my husband did this for a surprise for me last Christmas eve.
 
How about searching on Ebay? You can find Berenguer Baby Dolls on there too if you wanted to compare prices.

Whats a matter, you don’t think Jesus had a glow in the dark halo??? 😉 (the OP did want a halo I think)

I know it’s a little kichy, but I got this because we already have lots of baby dolls, and I wanted one that was clearly different from the others, that wouldn’t end up thrown in a toy bin. But boy was it hard to find. I actually wish they had a more middle-eastern/Israeli one, but I got Latino, thinking it would most fit my image of Jesus.
 
Oh well, I didn’t understand that the halo glows in the dark. 😃

Well - it’s not exactly what I had in mind. I want something in the house instead of just a Christmas tree to remind our dinner guests on Christmas day of the reason for the season. 😉

I did - they are pretty expensive!! I think the ones on eBay are mostly collectables and retired models.
