I have been reading a lot of work from Ibn Kathir, including his commentaries on the Qur’an and I am wondering how much of an influence his commentaries have on Muslims today?

Do Muslims hold what he taught in high regard in most countries? What about here in the West?

Thanks!

A quick google search of that name did say that he was one of the most highly respected commentators of the Koran. I’m not sure which schools or branch use him the most.

If you talk to a moderate Muslim whatever that is and if they really exist they will tell you that he is not that highly regarded. Are they practicing taqiyya?

If you talk to a radical Muslim or Islamist they trust Ibn Kathir interpretation.
