Maybe someone here knows the answer to this. Is it possible to become a priest for the Institute of Christ the King, or The Priestly Fraternity of Saint Peter if one is already a Secular Carmelite? Thanks for your help!

Third orders does not stop one from becomming a member of a Religious order. Technically, the ICK and the FSSP are not religious orders, but institutes of apostolic life. Even if they were, since third orders take private vows, they would be annuled once one takes public vows (whether simple or solemn) I beleive according to the Latin church’s canon law.

Yes; since they are not religious orders, but societies of apostolic life, one may be both a priest of the FSSP or ICKSP and a Secular Carmelite.

God bless,

Fr. Boyd, OCDS
(joining the FSSP in July, 2009)
