No. There’s a difference between something being constructed by atheists vs something made and then specifically cursed by demons. If I found out something in my house which was made in China was cursed like that, then yes, I’d throw it out too. I know some people viewing this thread probably think my reaction was over the top, but the demonic isn’t something to be messed with. If you read books written by or listen to any lectures by Catholic exorcists, they all confirm that once demons are given a legal right to hold on to something, albeit a place or person, they’re extremely hard to get rid of. Having cursed objects in your home is a doorway. Why risk it? I’d rather just toss the item and replace it with a real icon.
Just so people don’t misinterpret my original post if they haven’t seen it, I definitely don’t mean that they shouldn’t be disposed of based on the link. It’s just that nevertheless, if they still behold an image of a Saint, etc. they should still be disposed of in a way that still recognizes that. Although let’s end it here as it’s a done deal.

Do you know if they have to be blessed by an Orthodox priest, or can any Catholic priest do it?
Nope. I mean, if you are a Catholic, then from your point of view there is nothing wrong with getting your own priest to bless an object. However, here is an interesting article about “blessing” icons.

Icon of Christ, Mary, your patron saint. Yes, they should be blessed.
You can have them blessed if you want, but they’re already holy by virtue of being icons. There’s nothing wrong with not blessing them.

I think Legacy Icons does good work (high quality printed).
I have yet to buy a icon from them, but I’ve gotten incense and candles from them and their incense selection is very nice, great scents.
Great customer service.

I have been told by two priests, one Orthodox and one Eastern Catholic, that yes, you do have to have them blessed. My home was exorcized and everything and everyone in it was blessed.

If you haven’t already, check out the links in post #22.

My home was blessed by an Orthodox hieromonk. I do not know who this Fr. Steven Bigham is. He seems to write a lot of articles and books. The monk I refer to, sees to the souls under his care. He blesses icons and homes.

I do have a few Monastery Icons -how do I burn them?

Would a hot fire in a pit outdoors be sufficient to burn them or would I need some type of lighter fluid to ensure they burn completely?

I did seek spiritual advise from my Byzantine pastor and he told me it is indeed best to burn completely and either put ashes into recycles or bury them in the ground.

Thanks for the warning about the true nature of the “monks”. I am spreading the word to other acquaintances who may not be aware.
