I dropped by a neighboring RC parish to pray in the Eucharistic Chapel and lo and behold – an icon of Christ Pantocrator! :byzsoc:

The candles really made for a nice glow on the icon. (In my local RC parish, real candles are verboten. :()

I’ll have to stop by this parish’s chapel more often!

Have you had any experiences like this?
 
It’s funny that you mention this. When I first came to Orthodoxy I visitied a RC parish close to my home and they had to one side of the altar a very nice hand written icon of the Platytera ton Ouranon, Theotokos of the Sign. There is also small RC parish in the city I live in now, I think it is Our Lady, Joy of all who sorrow, and the church is built in very greek fashion and they have the icon Joy of all who sorrow in their church.
 
I just received a catalogue in the mail that has “Christian Greeting Cards & Gifts.” Mainly RC and Protestant items, but there is three-page section that has “Icons: An Ancient Christian Tradition.” 🙂
 
I think it is quite common to see images/statues/icons from a wide range of traditions - especially in North American Latin parishes where we have such a mix of ethnicities. I visited an Aremenian Orthodox parish in my city once and they had many very Western style images throughout the church. I don’t say this with any authority, but only as an observation, but it seems to me that the Roman and Oriental rites (whether in communion with Rome or not) have more flexiibility when it comes to the use of sacred images than the Byzantine rite does.
 
Seems only fair that since Eastern Catholic churches have in the past been Latinized, Latin churches should be Easternized occasionally. 😃 😉

Well, the Our Lady of Perpetual Help, which is a Byzantine Icon, is huge in Roman Catholicism.
 
I went back to the same chapel tonight and noticed that I’d missed a little 4"X6" Glykophilousa hanging over the donation box. 🙂
 
I thought maybe this was the name of a good Greek dessert recipe!

yes several Latin churches I frequent have icons displayed, and I have the one you chose in my office

the most common, San Damiano cross in Franciscan parishes, Our Lady of Perpetual Help–the one my mother fell in love with and was instrumental in her conversion; the one you cite, and the Trinity or 3 angels.
 
Just thought of another one, Our Lady Queen of Angels icon in the narthex of Our Lady of Angels in Allen, TX.

The others I mentioned: the two in the Eucharistic Chapel at Prince of Peace in Plano; the San Damiano in the chapel at St Jude in Allen.

The local RC parish has an Icon of the Trinity in the blessed sacrament chapel. It was a gift from the (OCA) Russian Orthodox Bishop Nikolai at the dedication of the building.
 
As I’ve said before, not everything about the RC Church is bad . . . 🙂 🙂
