It is my understanding that the appropriate way to dispose of a blessed icon is to burn it.
Sacramental is a word the the West uses to describe anything that has been blessed.forgive me, i’ve never had a sacramental anything in the catholic church before. is there a way to dispose correctly?
"While it is important to root out relativism it is also opportune to address the tendency on the part of some Christians towards exclusivism, polemics or towards “having nothing to do with Hindus”.
You are certainly free to reject doing business with Monastery Icons for any reason, but accusing them of being “evil and unchristian” because some of the owners/operators are Hindu seems a bit uncharitable.“There are fundamental differences between the Christian faith and Hindu beliefs. Differences. however, need not be perceived as a threat; they can, in fact, become occasions for mutual understanding.”
Well, they are Hindu. Is it wrong to call them unchristian then? You are certainly free to reject doing business with Monastery Icons for any reason, but accusing them of being “evil and unchristian” because some of the owners/operators are Hindu seems a bit uncharitable.![]()
I don’t recall anybody mentioning that they worshipped devils. Could you point me to that post?So is it the official teaching of the Catholic Church that Hinduism is an evil religion and that they worship “devils”?

I apologize; no, I did not see those words in this thread. I have seen that statement made elsewhere, though, in similar discussions about Monastery Icons.I don’t recall anybody mentioning that they worshipped devils. Could you point me to that post?
Butheway, they are not actual Hindus but, rather, a gnostic occult group. orthodoxinfo.com/general/monasteryicons.aspxSo is it the official teaching of the Catholic Church that Hinduism is an evil religion and that they worship “devils”?
Well - according to this document posted at EWTN,
You are certainly free to reject doing business with Monastery Icons for any reason, but accusing them of being “evil and unchristian” because some of the owners/operators are Hindu seems a bit uncharitable.![]()
Yes by burning. Images which have been defaced, damaged or are in other ways unsuited for veneration are burned. It is my understanding that the appropriate way to dispose of a blessed icon is to burn it.
Burning Icons (even Crosses) that you are disposing of is a very traditional Byzantine practice. If they are merely selling another companies Cross, that might be fine to keep. Do you have a link to the product?I think I purchased a cross from them as well, although it seems to have been made by another company. Don’t tell me I need to burn the cross…![]()

I can’t tell whether or not Monastary Icon produced it.
