Icons

Hi all, I was wondering if someone could help me. I want to get my mother an Icon for Christmas. I want to introduce her to some aspects of the Eastern Churches. She isn’t Catholic anymore but so I think an Icon of a saint would be a bad idea. I was thinking of trying to get her an Icon of a gospel story. Do they have these? I’m from the Roman side of the house so I’m not well versed in Icons ether, I just know a little bit of the basics. Also could anyone recommend short reading material I might be able to buy that I could also give her to let her realize what Icons are all about? I live pretty close to an EC cathedral and they have a shop that I was thinking of checking out. What is the selection usually like at a place like this? Thanks everyone!

There are many icons from the stories in the Gospel. Do you have a specific one in mind?
