I’d be interested to know how it goes over in your class.
I will let you know how it was received.

I plan to write the story, provide a picture of the Nativity, and have the kids make a booklet which they may read to their parents.

Last year also, though as a part of the lesson on Epiphany, I had the kids all make origami star. familyfun.go.com/printables/fun-easy-origami-pg-1031835/#Fold-and-snip%20Stars;4

(Another catechist does origami frogs for the Moses story, the plague).

Instead of gifts for parents, I have the kids make Christmas cards for our parish clergy. We have 4 priests and I put their names on the board and the kids make enough cards so each priest gets an equal stack. I always look for a chance to educate the kids on who the priests are and what they do for us (as many kids do not attend Mass). I provide a set of Nativity stickers and also other Christmas stickers, but generally the kids prefer to draw/color the cards. I was blown away last year when I went to Mass Christmas morning and one of the priests used the cards as the basis for his homily. Wow. He used 3 cards and how each one spoke to the reality of our lives as Christians.

I’m late to the discussion but how about a Jesse Tree in Advent. Not sure how often you meet for class but this is a way to teach some of the Old Testament people and tie it in with a specific season.

Yes to Jesse Tree, we cover this using a photo of the stained glass window at Chartres Cathedral.

Used Isaiah and wrote the story to fit my third graders. I read the story.

Yesterday, we did a play based on the above consisting of 12 parts encompassing eight pages.

I plan to do the play again. Kids seem to enjoy acting. Will do it after Little Christmas.

My students do not know the Old Testament so this might take another try to see if they’re comprehending Isaiah.

Thanks and Merry Christmas!:christmastree1::snowing:
