I have just been thinking about what to give up or do for Lent when I heard the Pope’s message for Lent. If you have not heard, in brief, it suggests that we should learn to be more charitable during Lent. It was from this that I thought about raising money for SCIAF (Scottish Catholic International Aid Fund).

Are you able to give me some ideas please for raising money and also if you know any Internet sites that would allow others to donate. If you have thought of anything please don’t be afraid to ask.

Thanks and God Bless

nothing is more effective than door-to-door, targeted mailouts,
or market sitting. (get them on their way out/in of shopping)

Yes I agree, that Lent is a good time to show how much you love the Lord, by giving to the poor, their are other ways to, like helping someone in need,go visit the sick, comford those who feel sad,for when you touch thier hearts, it brings joy to them.

Last year, my parish had soup suppers on the Friday nights of Lent, followed by Stations of the Cross. Parishioners made the soup, bread and rolls. Father told us, free will donations, all money collected would be donated to the St Vincent de Paul society. We collected $680, not an overwhelming amount, still, it was something.

The church I work at is participating in Operation Rice Bowl. This coming week I have to put together 200+ boxes to pass out the following Sunday. I think it’s sponsored by Catholic Relief Services and provides food for people around the world.
