you can put up on your parish grounds a statue of st michael crushing satan or an angel kneeling before a “tombstone” for the innocent victims of abortion

Have a water drive.Hi everyone, I need help on coming up with ideas for some of the things that we (our Young Adults group) can do to serve the community during our 30 Hour Famine service project. Any ideas?
Challenge people to live on 4 litres of water per day in solidarity with much of the water-impoverished of the world. It’s really hard. They can donate bottled water or $$ for a water well project in a third world country based on the water they would have used.
Have a black tie dinner, pricey tickets, dressed up gala, and serve a typical meal from Haiti or other impoverished locale. Beans and rice, small portion, plantains, thin stews, you get the idea. Have a great keynote speaker from CRS come in and speak about hunger around the world. invite local dignitaries and ask them to help get the word out for your parishes’ food drives, pantry drives, community garden initiatives, etc.
Clear a couple of acres for a community garden near your parish. We have 10 acres that our parishioners work, and we donated 8000 pounds of produce to local food banks and St. Vincent de Paul clients last yea alone, and that’s AFTER the parishioners took or bought what they wanted. You’d be amazed at the volume a moderate sized garden can produce.

Food or clothing drives. Shoe drives, shows are always in demand. Volunteer at a retirement home. Write letters to prisoners, send care packages to soldiers.
