I slipped it in his shorts so he would find it when he changed clothes after work.
At first he said he might return it because he ‘needs’ other things more. My reply was that we are in a place financially where I can surprise him w/ something nice, which I have never done before.
He went for a walk and came home saying he would keep it. (it’s an ipad3)
He stayed up until 1:30am playing with it.

Same reason as your husband gave - too expensive a gift, I didn’t need it, blah blah blah. Since then I have learned a couple of lessons about returning gifts…
Now I accept them with grace and gratitude!
