Hi guys, me and a fellow young adult of mine were planning to lead adoration on the 2nd of June, and I would just like to ask all of you for some ideas that we could implement during the night. My friend was planning on doing some tai chi stretches, just the stretches, since she’s aware that the practice has some things that are against Church teaching. We will also be having a reflection on that day’s Gospel and relating it to some past experience of ours. So yeah, that’s about it. I hope you guys have a great rest of the day and God love all of you 👍

Sorry, but I got to say Tai Chi stretches seems disrespectful to me. Jesus is really there!

If the pope was standing there would you do stretches?? And yet this is Christ himself!!

I agree. No human being can “lead” Adoration. After the Exposition prayers and hymns there should be total silence until Benediction. This is not a time for music, or talking, and it certainly isn’t the time for an exercise class.

Let Jesus speak into the hearts of those gathered. Don’t hinder Him in any way.

yeah, i think there was a slight misunderstanding due to my part. my friend was actually planning on doing the stretches before adoration started, not during. and yeah I totally agree with the whole silence thing.

What about offering the guys different venues to hear God speak to them and facilitate that whole process of conversation like spiritual books, or maybe offer some blank journals in which they could write, etc.

no. the preparations for Adoration takes place in the heart.
You friend sounds like she doesn’t “get” why we have Adoration.
The Holy Spirit facilitates the “whole process”.

Silence.
People can read their prayer books or Bibles if they wish. But that’s not for anyone else to “lead” or decide. No one is hosting a meeting. 😦

Silence is one option. But it is possible for someone to read out a reflection to give people something to meditate on, or to lead some prayers for some of the time. I’ve even heard hymns at adoration before.

At first, I used to bring books to read.

After a while, I just would sit.

And then I would just smile.

Visit for a Holy Hour, kneel and be still in your soul while you think of God’s Presence before you. Pray the Divine Praises and then just talk with the Holy Spirit. The silence will be restful and you will be drawn closer. Repeat as often as possible and you will Know! God Bless.

There is no need to “facilitate” anything. All you need to do is arrange the priest and Altar server for the Exposition and the Benediction, and invite people to come. Jesus will do the rest.

Don’t overcomplicate it.
