Identify this painting - Friar flying a kite of Christ Crucified?

What painting is this and what is the meaning? It looks like the subject is flying a kite and the kite is Christ Crucified? Who is the subject? Obviously a Friar.

It is from the Cathedral-Basilica of St. Louis King of France in the old French Quarter in New Orleans.

I would assume that it is not a kite but rather Christ projecting his wounds from his Passion onto the friar (maybe St Francis?) giving him the stigmata. 🙂
 
I think it’s probably St. Francis of Assisi, as well, with the moment he’s receiving the stigmata.
