Masihi:
I’ve decided to come home to the Catholic Church as an Eastern rite Catholic and I hope to one day officially convert.
Thanks be to God! This is how the wounds in the body of Christ will be healed and unity achieved. One soul at a time.
You won’t believe this, but the first son of a priest I met from Eastern Europe was actually my work colleague. He had fallen away from going to church. So after numerous lengthy conversations about how the faith was lived in his own country, for some reason (I’ll never be able to explain why) he decided to come to mass with me 🙂

And I saw him honestly return to the faith, and it was brilliant 🙂 One thing that still strikes me was taking him around introducing him to folks -even to the priests and nuns- at my parish saying:“he’s a son of a priest back in their country”. And that was just unprecedented in so many ways, I still laugh every time I think about it. 🙂

That was tried early on, after the troubles with the RC bishops.
Now, why doesn’t that surprise me? lol!🤣

I’m a member of the UGCC and if I recall correctly, it’s still pretty ethnic in a lot of places…my parish is a unique community though…we don’t’ have that ethnic tie as none of us has Ukrainian ancestry. We’re all converts of some sort 🙂

Will you please come see what I posted? I’m considering switching Rites. Maybe you can help me?

Welcome home! I was born and raised in the Roman Rite of the Catholic Church but formally
transferred rites on March 17th of this year! On March 17th of this year I was formally accepted
into the Maronite Catholic Church which is part of the Eastern Rite Catholic Church. It follows the Antiochene Rite! In order to convert I was required to attended their services for 2 years and write a letter to my Maronite pastor explaining why I want to change rites. The Maronite pastor then sends my letter with his recommendation to the Maronite Bishops. If he agree’s, he sends a letter to the Roman Rite Bishop in my area who then gives his consent. Then all these letter’s go to Vatican Ambassador to the U.S. in Washington DC who then consults with the Vatican. The Pope then gives his blessing and approval is sent back to the Maronite Bishop who sends the paperwork to the Maronite pastor who formalized it with me.

Hi! I’m convert to the Catholic Church on here. Welcome! <3
