What I find so scary is how this is being presented as an apolitical event. They aren’t outright saying that the money raised goes to liberal causes. I’m sure a lot of pro-life people will give money thinking they’re doing something good.

i think i need to see a list of the charities, a link, and how they support a pro-choice platform.

Do you have a link or any info on exactly how they are supporting pro-choice organizations? Not that I don’t believe you as it wouldn’t surprise me one bit. It would just be nice to have the specifics.

thanks for the link.

so now it just depends on how you feel about UNICEF.
And that’s just of of the articles I could find. This year they’ve added more pro-choice charities like the Children’s Defense Fund.

And this surprises you because…?

I generally do not give to non-Christian charities. What is the point of feeding and clothing the needy if you don’t feed their souls as well? That, after all is where the real need lies. Even Christ’s charitable activities served the purpose of proclaiming and furthering the kingdom.

So to play it safe, I hand pick the charities and organizations I donate to.

So what? They are simply protecting our right to choose.
You have no right to choose to murder an innocent baby, born or unborn, any more than you have the right to murder someone whom you dislike. That’s God’s law and it’s God who will call all to account for their choices.

I think the concern is that alot of Christians are considering donating to the cause and that they should be aware of what their money could inadvertantly be supporting.

As a Christian, this is contrary to what we believe and are taught. There is no ambiguity in Catholicism or any other Christian dogma about abortion. (and if there is, I would think twice about it).

As far as “protecting the right to choose”…although it may be true of the average joe shmo pro-choice citizen…it is NOT true of the pro-choice or abortion lobby and advocacy movement.

I give to the largest charitable organization in the world - Catholic Charities

American Idol has been one of my favorite shows. But I don’t like the idea of involving the contestants in this fundraiser that gives to several organizations linked to Planned Parenthood. This will defenitely have an effect on my continuing to enjoy the program.

Even though I would not support the charities that “Idol Gives Back” supports, I must say that It is necessary for all of us to do what we can to help the poor and the unfortunate. We have organizations within the Catholic Church that do wonderful work. Someone mentioned Catholic Charities, there is also the Society of St. De Paul in many of our local towns. The Edmundite Missions in Selma Alabama is one mission that helps some of the poorest people in our country probably simililar to some in the Appalacians. Asian Relief is an international mission that helps to house and education orphans in Korea, the Phillipines, Mexico. These are just a few. I think it is good if we can include charites that are local, national, and international on our lists. I know that there are many worthy causes and it is impossible to give to every one. But we must budget our money make an effort to do what we can. Mother Teresa told the story of a time when she and her sisters visited a poor woman and gave her a bag of rice. All of a sudden, the woman took the bag of rice and divided it in half and immediately left her dwelling. The sisters waited for her to return. When she returned, the sisters asked her where she had gone with half the rice. She replied that she gave it to a neighbor who had less than she. The point is, that we all can do some act of charity no matter how small.

I am saddened that all these organizations someway support abortion:( 😦

I guess Im glad I didnt donate. The problem is where do you find christian organizations that help any of these specific people(like the ones on Idol gives back)?😦
