If a debate between Christians and non-Christians were represented with comic book superheroes, which one would represent your denomination?

For example, I think Neo from the Matrix should stand for Catholicism since he is “the one” and we are the one true Church.

Who could symbolize Lutheranism, Calvinism, Pentecostalism etc.? And on the other side who could symbolize Atheism, Agnosticism, Buddhism, Hinduism etc.?

Idk.

But I’ve always liked the joke that the old testament is the original, the new testament is the sequel and the Quran is fan fiction.

Heh. 🙂

Although you might be safer if you said the Book of Mormon instead of the Quran. :hmmm:

Never heard that before, but I like it!

Which would be awkward, since he is RC.
Just what I was going to say. OTOH, it seems that there might be some "Lutheran leaning’ among some in the RC church today. . .

The CC is Superman, the Orthodox Church is Batman (he doesn’t like Superman, right?), and I realized just as I was typing this that I forgot what the topic was xD

Supes is likely Jewish.

Jesus is impervious to kryptonite though. That stuff has no effect on Jesus, except to make him chuckle a little bit.

I forgot about that. Here’s a question (getting off topic): why is Superman allergic to a rock from his home planet?

Initialially I was only planning to contribute the Neo = Catholicism idea, and leave each it for people in each denomination to contribute their own, but I couldn’t stop myself from suggesting the Nightcrawler one.

So … Now that we’re making suggestions for others … How would Agnostic posters feel about Two Face representing Agnosticism?

Speculation is variable; centers on radiation and its consequences.

Wouldn’t Batman represent the Catholic Church as the “Savior we needed, not the One we wanted” as if looking at it from a Jewish perspective? I see Superman being more like the Jewish religion…

I know about the commonly accepted “Methodist” for Supes. And it is rare for me to go against accepted continuity, unless it is somehow outrages me. But I’ve been an adherent of the Jewish school for years:

Batman I can certainly see as Episcopalian, and perhaps fallen away.

Black Widow, Ben Grimm, Magneto, Daredevil, agreed. Kitty Is new to me.
