I know he would be laicized but would he still be able to hear confession in emergencies? Would the Church still consider him a man…or a in-between…or what…this isn’t from real life just a question I posed to myself one day and been thinking about it… Another thing is if a priest had both hands amputated could he still head the Sacrifice of the Mass?..sorry for weird question just thinking too much

Eight years ago, a news leak appeared about a secret policy (the document was distributed sub secretum and has never been made public) regarding transsexuals. The news article made passing reference to a priest who had gotten a sex change. According to the article he was still considered a man by the Catholic Church, because the Church does not recognize sex change as changing the nature of the person.
Once a priest, always a priest. And priests are always men.
If memory services me right, the priest in question eventually returned to living as a man, however I do not know if he ever regained his public faculties.
