Hello,

I am trying to become a catholic but I have been married 4 times. I am trying to annul the first three but while I was looking for documents discovered my first spouse has recently died. Do I still have to annul that marriage? Does that now make my 2nd marriage valid if no other issues with validity existed? My 3rd marriage is already not valid as he was catholic and we did not marry in the church.

Need help please.

Sheri

Hi,

The death of your first spouse does simplify things. That is one marriage that does not have to be annulled. As for the other marriages, I would need more information in order to comment on. You need to talk to your priest. Your situation does sound encouraging.
