Are Catholic nuns and sisters consecrated in the true sense of the word? If yes: if one leaves the convent with permission of Rome, is she still consecrated?

Hi,

No; you can’t have it both ways. You can’t consecrate your whole life by vow and and then drop the vow without some difference. Certainly, anyone can consecrate oneself to God. But doing it as a relgious means that one’s life becomes the Church’s public sign that God deserves such consecration. It also makes one’s life a continual act of worship.
