If abortion was illegal

If she knowingly and with full consent actually wills the death of another person (the baby) who is an american citizen and under the protection of both American law and the law of God, then she should be punished just as if she shot a full-grown adult.

What must be carefully discerned is wether or not the woman herself is a victim of pressure, and the culpret in fact is a father/mother/brother/boyfriend/etc., and not the woman who didn’t chose through her free will. they should be punished just as the full-consenting woman in the above paragraph.

Exactly! and it’s already happening, even in secular Australia. Recently here in Perth there was an SAS trooper who had conspired with a colleague to bash his pregnant girlfriend in order to bring about a miscarriage. He was charged with “conspiracy to commit murder” (of the unborn child)

The death babies suffer in abortions are by dismemberment… not an instant thing like a shooting… It should be punished just as if the woman (and whoever helped her/convinced her to do this i.e Conspiricy to commit murder) took a 5 year old child, held them down and ripped all their limbs off one by one until they died.

Sounds like gruesome murder to me. Murder by dismemberment in the US is a Capital Murder charge… Punishable by life imprisonment or the death Penalty!

how were women punished when abortion was illegal? I believe you will find the abortionist was the one who was punished, as the actual murderer.

So, if the woman is the guilty one, and she already has six children, are you volunteering to take care of her children while she sits on death row? I think it would be a good idea to see how this was handled before the 1970’s when abortion was illegal.

the abortionist, who did the actual crime, was the one punished.

This is correct, and he should be the one who faces the murder charge.

Now, since he could not do it without the mother’s consent and participation (yes, we must be alert to cases of pressure from outside parties which influence the mother’s decision), the mother is an active participant in the crime as well, and accomplice. How should this be handled?

That’s not a unique situation – we have cases of people coerced into committing crimes, including participation in murder. In such cases, the defense brings out the pressure the defendant was under, and the jury determines whether it partially justified the act.

My own preference is to allow underage girls to sue when they reach majority. And to make 4D sonograms a matter of informed consent, so that a woman who was not shown a 4D sonogram could sue.

I think we can sue abortionists out of business.

If the woman is a willful accomplice, than she is as guilty as the abortionist, and should be punished accordingly. Her submmiting of the child to one of the most cruel deaths possible (where pain, it is said, is about 4 times more intense than when adults expirience the same), and I wouldn’t be surprised to hear calls for the death penalty for her.

And again, like my previous post (2nd from top), it must be carefully discerned wether or not the woman is a willful accomplice or not, and therefore how guilty she is in this hideous crime.

Thanks to Roe v. Wade, children in the womb are in essence nothing more than appendix-like tissue that can be removed and destroyed. In the first 9 months of our lives we have no absolute dignity as american citizens, thanks to Roe v. Wade.

I agree that the abortionist should be punished, but wouldn’t the woman’s cooperation in the abortion be either conspiracy to commit murder or murder for hire?

If we do not ask for the maximum penalty for the woman who had the abortion (either the death penalty or life imprisonment) are we giving credibility to the idea that the unborn child is not a human being?

So you wouldn’t punish a woman who throws a grenade into a kindergarden class simply because she has 6 kids at home to tend to?

:dts::doh2:

Oh…you would punish her?!? Are you volunteering to take care of her children while she sits on death row?

Do you see why this is a bad argument?

God Bless,

The child is as human the day of its conception as it is the day it graduates from college. The penalty for killing it should be the same, regardless of age or state of development.

In cases of coersion, the defense is free to introduce evidence that would mitigate the sentence.

You are correct, it should be the abortionist who is punished… the mother can be charged under assisting in the crime and/or conspiracy… unless she took the abortion pill and then it’s her as the murderer and the person supplying the drug as the conspirator.

A woman who willingly has the child in her womb killed is not someone who should be allowed to look after young and vulnerable children anyway.

By ensuring that unwanted pregnancies ended in abortion, legal abortion was supposed to reduce certain social ills that resulted from neglectful parenthood, such as child abuse.

Yet child abuse rates have risen steadily over recent years and several studies indicate a possible link with abortion.

…and how should this punishment be applied to someone who has suffered peritonitis from getting a knitting needle through the posterior fornix?
some of the statements here are incredible in the 21st century - clearly fundamentalism is not confined to Protestantism or Islam

The same way any criminal should be punished if they were injured while commiting their crime. Just simple logic. 😉

Doesn’t abortion kill a human child?

it’s difficult to apply a temporal punishment to someone who is dead???
your query seems to imply I might disagree with that definition - why would I?

Why pose an illogical question then?

Why do you answer a question with a question?

If abortion was once again illegal there would need to be a period of re-education before the women (or children) would be held so accountable, imho. A whole generation or 2 has been convinced that abortion is A-OK. Christian charity demands it.The abortionist, however, knows what he/she is doing and should definitely be held accountable, even if he/she pretends to a charitable motive. And, by the way, with the advent of DNA testing, thoseFOBs (fathers of babies) should be held accountable too, unless they can prove they sincerely tried to prevent the death of the child.
