That’s okay, new born babies are blissfully naive and it doesn’t seem to bother them at all. That’s one of the most naive things I have ever heard.

How is that ridiculous? That’s the most ridiculous thing I have heard all day.
It’s too difficult to be boring. As Chesterton put it,But it’s awfully boring.![]()
I was actually talking with a co-worker today who has 4 adopted children. I asked him how he afforded it. He mentioned a program he called by 3 initials and said that the adoptions were free. He said that if you wanted a baby from another country then it costs a lot of money but to adopt a random child in the USA through the program he mentioned he said it was totally free. This suprised me. I didn’t ask any specifics re: if it is only children past a certain age, whatever. He mentioned the mother was a crack addict though. I was surpised as I didn’t know it was possible to adopt children for free under any circumstances. This is a great point and would like to see this changed whether or not roe v wade changes. Adoptions are very costly. There are a lot of people who would like to adopt but can’t afford to. What does it cost? 10K, 15K? more? That’s a pretty penny and the child is supposedly ‘unwanted’ by the birth mother so why does it cost so much money? Why can’t couples with the financial means (and stabilty, etc) to raise a child simply do so with minimal costs and just background checks, etc???
If it were low cost maybe some couples would choose to adopt rather than birth their own child for moral reasons. Maybe some would even do so because it would be easier on the wife than going through pregnancy.
I’d rather make abortions illegal. It’d be a good lesson, too.How is that ridiculous?
Obviously the promotion of contraception has no effect, seeing as how millions of babies are still conceived each year, and most aborted.
Either people are not listening to promotion of contraception because unwanted babies are still being conceived/aborted/born due to its parents choosig not to use it, or the contraception is failing. Any way you look at it, this is not solving the problem, if anything it exacerbates it by luring people into a false sense of security and encouraging the frequency of it.
I’m not sure if this line is meant as an insult or merely a bad attempt at encouraging conversion:shrug:THANK YOU JESUS! That is what we would say - having repented for the many years of sin that became more and more evil. When God has known us before we were knitted into the womb, how offensive is that to Our Lord? Have you noticed that the people of our country have had enormous increases in pornography, pedophilia, abuse of the innocent, and down and down it goes. A nation that kills its children will not survive.
So lets us the God-given Graces we have left and make this happen. To the atheist that is so happy with babies being murdered - before you do anything else today, try and find a soul within you and work from there.
Because if artificial contraception didn’t actually work, neither you nor the Church would really care about it.How is that ridiculous?

That is pure hypothetical, because the state would regain their right to make law on abortion. States such as New York, California, Massachusetts would retain abortion on demand, because the Democrats run these places almost without opposition. Texas would go back to its pre-Roe law, except with more restrictions. You are thinking of reversing Roe vs Wade, or constitutional amendment? Don’t think there are enough states to ratify an amendment banning abortions. But if it managed to get pass Congress, then even where it was legal, there would be pressure to cut Planned Parenthood off the public tit. But in the Western world we no longer think of human beings in the same way as before.I agree. But how do you think this would effect society as a whole?
Well something is failing, because unwanted babies are still being born/conceived/aborted.Originally Posted by CrimsonThorn
Sex within marriage is not negative though. Having children is one huge part of marriage. Thats not a negative view of sex, its a healthy one.
But on the part of effectiveness, abstinence is fool proof guaranteed 100% from any std, whereas contraception is not. So why would you risk people contracting diseases even with the use of contraceptives? And certainly contraceptive promotio for purpose of birth control is pretty useless as shown by the statistics of the numbers of abortions.
Treat the root of the problem, not the symptoms

That’s going to be a tough call. You can’t really be a Catholic if you support abortion, yet just about two thirds of Catholics say it’s OK in certain circumstances. And that proportion is growing. To reached a point where legislation could be passed AND withstand a court challenge, would require - - (a wild guess) - - a 70+% of the population being opposed to abortions in all circumstances.
That’s crazy talk. Don’t you know that we have to have sex every day or we’ll die?And third, the most difficult, people must learn the self-discipline to refrain from engaging in sexual activity. This would require a sea-change in our society…
and only 9% of people in the united states cooperate with pollstersThat’s going to be a tough call. You can’t really be a Catholic if you support abortion, yet just about two thirds of Catholics say it’s OK in certain circumstances. And that proportion is growing.
Nothing humans do is 100% perfect:shrug:Well something is failing, because unwanted babies are still being born/conceived/aborted.
Its fairly easy to see, apparently youre choosing not to.
