If all grace comes through Mary, (if she is the Mediatrix of all graces by virtue of her coronation as Queen of heaven and earth) does that mean that she has all the love it is possible to have in a finite human heart? IOW, does she have the same amount of love as Jesus “in quantity” (for lack of a better phrase) even if not “in quality” (because she isn’t united to God as Jesus is in the hypostatic union)?

Food for thought. 🙂

It is my understanding that all graces come through Mary since Christ came from her. It’s not like she is up there giving grace to us why God naps. All grace is from God, Mary prays for us which is powerful and effective but all grace comes from God.

Yes, all grace comes from God, but from God through Mary. God bless you.

Because Mary bore Christ and Christ gives us grace through his death and resurrection. Mary prays for us that’s it.

Every grace comes through Mary’s hands. She not only prays for us, she also mediates for us. Thus her title: Mary Mediatrix of All Graces.

Why?

If Elijah is body and soul in heaven why doesn’t he give us grace too?

This is not dogma as I understand , Mary giving grace, simply pious practice.

969 "This motherhood of Mary in the order of grace continues uninterruptedly from the consent which she loyally gave at the Annunciation and which she sustained without wavering beneath the cross, until the eternal fulfillment of all the elect. Taken up to heaven she did not lay aside this saving office but by her manifold INTERCESSION continues to bring us the gifts of eternal salvation . . . . Therefore the Blessed Virgin is invoked in the Church under the titles of Advocate, Helper, Benefactress, and Mediatrix."512

970 “Mary’s function as mother of men in no way obscures or diminishes this unique mediation of Christ, but rather shows its power. But the Blessed Virgin’s salutary influence on men . . .** flows forth from the superabundance of the merits of Christ, rests on his mediation, depends entirely on it, and draws all its power from it.”**513 "No creature could ever be counted along with the Incarnate Word and Redeemer; but just as the priesthood of Christ is shared in various ways both by his ministers and the faithful, and as the one goodness of God is radiated in different ways among his creatures, so also the unique mediation of the Redeemer does not exclude but rather gives rise to a manifold cooperation which is but a sharing in this one source."514

Elijah is a great prophet, but Mary is the Holy Mother of God who sits right beside her Son on the throne of God. Since her conception she was given many privileges and graces that only she received, in order to fulfill her very important and unique role as Mother of God. If you read books about Mary written by Marian theologians you will discover that what I say to you is not fantasy, but true. There is a hierarchy and order to things. Jesus mediates between God the Father and man, Mary mediates between Jesus and man. God, of course, is at the top of the hierarchy and is the source of every grace, but every grace flows from Him through Mary’s hands, and she distributes them as she pleases. Her will is the very same as the Will of God, this makes her so pleasing to Him and is why He grants her everything she asks for. Elijah is pleasing to God, but nowhere near as pleasing and powerful as Mary Mother of God. God bless you.

I hope your post is not a willful attempt to diminish Mary’s all important role as MEDIATRIX of All Graces. She intercedes and mediates. Period.

I posted the catechism of the Catholic Church. If you feel it diminishes Mary then take it up with your Bishop!

Your quote does nothing to disprove that Mary also mediates between man and Jesus. Jesus is our sole Redeemer, yet the Church still refers to Mary as Co-redemptrix. Just because Jesus is our sole Mediator with God the Father does not mean that Mary is not Mediatrix between Jesus and man. Just because Mary intercedes does not mean that she does not also mediate. Perhaps you should look up the word mediate in the dictionary before you try to argue that Mary does not mediate between Jesus and man. God bless you.

“By her intercession Mary is considered mediatrix”. -CCC

If you only cared to look up the word “intercede” in the dictionary, you’d see that it does not only mean “to pray for,” like I think you seem to think. It means “to act as a MEDIATOR in a dispute.” Case closed! Good night! … I’m going to bed!

His graces pass through her, they are not stored in her. A very crude metaphor would be a pipe - while in and of it self it cannot hold much water, much water can pass through it.

Hmmmm…this sounds like a question for Blessed Duns Scotus!!

I would say that perfect love can’t really be quantified at all. It passes out of that domain and belongs more to that of Heaven than Earth. Mary’s Love is very much like that of Her Son, I think. Are not the Immaculate Heart and Sacred Heart so perfectly united that they essentially beat as one?

All grace come from God and the love is in infinity. It is not quantifiable.

Dear Jon S,

Here is Wikepedia’s definition of intercession:

Intercession is the act of interceding (intervening or mediating) between two parties. In Christian religious usage, it is a prayer to God on behalf of others. (emphasis mine)

I agree fully. That does not support your position at all.

For example.

In court my lawyer intercedes on my behalf to the judge. The judge gives me a sentence. He does not give my lawyer a sentence and my lawyer hands it to me.

Mary is Mediatrix, Almoner and Distributrix according to the Church (look up the definitions) – she does not only pray for us, she has been assigned by God the special role of distributing graces to us. St. Louis de Montfort teaches that she distributes graces as she wills, when she wills and to whomever she wills. And the Church has declared that everything in his works are free from error, so you must believe what I am saying! Mary has been given* power over *who gets graces, when they get graces and how they get graces – she doesn’t only pray for us. Yes, every grace comes from God, but God has given Mary the special role of distributing all of them according to her will – and her will is 100% in accordance with God’s. Until you spend time reading Marian books – and I have read the best of them – then I don’t think there will be any more use in us arguing back and forth any longer. I have just sent you my last message. God bless you.

I don’t have a problem with you believing that. Declaring I must is putting a burden on me the church does not require.

Thanks.
