If anti-catholisism was an olimpic event who gets the medals?

amen, amen, I have met so many people who are adamantly anti-catholic who have no knowledge of the Catholic faith, and only second hand stories from people who didn’t practice it to begin with.

I give James Mc Carthy the gold. He will stop at nothing to discredit the Catholism. He will even go the the extreme of defying all logic and common sense. It is pure narcacism. He wrote the Gospel According to Rome and several other crafty named books. He tries to pawn his work off as something that will appeal to Catholics and Protestants alike to try to bridge the gap. In actuality, it is pure anti-Catholism, illogical and pretexted scripture interpretation, pretexted catechism interpretation, and all out misrepresentations.

just curious why the national teachers union.Where can i find some information on what they say.
Have you seen some of the curriculum (?) they are proposing? Not only are they trying to teach oral sex to our 5th and 6th graders, but they are trying to shove homosexuality down our throats (please, no puns here)!

In Virginia, not only were they proposing to teach 6th graders that homosexuality was healthy and normal, but they were going to show that Christian Faiths that are against these beliefs are hypocritical and wrong. How would you like your little Johnny coming home asking you why Catholics are so bigoted and wrong to preach against homosexual people. 4000 signatures were not enough to get the school to back off. It took going to federal court and having a judge (A Clinton appointee, no less!) telling the school that it is out of line to teach against any church.

We’ve all heard horror stories about the sexual education and how Bibles are no longer allowed. In Tennessee, a group of kids were not allowed to read the bible during lunch recess. Give me a Break.

Notworthy

But for Grace:

It’s probably cultural - how many people in the 1950s who hated communism had actually read its texts ?

How many haters of Judaism had actually read, or even knew anything about, the Talmud or about Judaism ?

IMO, hate usually thrives best when it is most ignorant - and every society needs something to hate, because hatred of others binds together those who would otherwise be at each other’s throats. Hatred has great cohesive power. Detailed knowledge of the true character of the “hated other” is best avoided in such circumstances, because otherwise that “other” may turn out not to be so hateful after all - and may even turn out to be uncomfortably similar to the society which hates it: which could be very demoralising for the hater. Solution - avoid all compromise and common ground; for ignorance sets us free to hate others, without fearing that we may resemble those we hate; hatred seems to be bitterest, between those who are most alike.

Doesn’t say much for human nature, does it ? 😦 :o ##

Good grief, nobody mentioned Rick Jones, whose book “Understanding Roman Catholicism” is often cited in anti-Catholic circles. The guy might not take a medal, but he would at least be in the finals.

And, of course, Jimmy Swaggart would compete, but I doubt he’d pass the qualifying rounds.

And old Bart Brewster would go out for the team, but he would put the judges to sleep and be disqualified.
