If Catholics Worshipped Satan, Would They Know?

I do not believe that good and evil are that difficult to discern, unlike this author. It is not hard to know good. The difficulty always lies in doing it. The message of Jesus is not one of evil. If an evil person were to disguise himself as good, that disguise would necessarily involve being good, and the evil would not exist.

if a fish is out of water does it show any signs of being out of water? oh yes it dies.

Quick answer… Yes, we would know.

Follow-up… I would not be inclined to take religious advice from a selp-professed Athiest. The author of this site begins by saying that s/he doesn’t believe in Satan, then goes on to argue that Satan may have taken over the Catholic Church… This kind of twister logic can be a fun party game, but not worth devoting serious thought to…

Just my opinion…

This quote from the article is interesting because this unbeliever is unwittingly describing the Antichrist:
What would suit the Devil more is if he managed to convince the world that he and his minions were God’s representatives, and that God’s true representatives were sinners and demons.
If Satan existed, this would be his most effective tactic to win the War on Heaven. And he’d be doing it in a way that would insult God the most: What could be more blasphemous than glorifying Satan and demonizing God?
And then he begins his argument.
If Satan is as devious as he’s made out to be, then it’s exactly the kind of thing he would do. If he’s as powerful as he’s made out to be, then he could certainly do it. And if Satan could and would do such a thing, how can anyone tell whether he’s already done it?
Devious? Yes. Powerful? Not powerful enough to prevail against the Church.
For the sake of this intellectual exercise, let’s consider the following hypotheses:
Satan exists and he is extremely evil and extremely powerful.
Extremely evil? Yes. Extremely powerful? Not compared to God.

The author also exaggerates the historical evils attributed, rightly or wrongly, to the Church.
Remember that if this scheme is to work, Satan would have been there from the beginning. And convincing people would have been a lot easier back then when people were more credulous and skepticism was not held as a virtue. All Satan would have to do would be to convince uneducated desert-dwellers I’m certain that even the least educated modern-day criminal is capable of such deception. What more the Prince of Deception himself? Even if Satan managed just this and then kept his distance, time and tradition could have done the rest. What more if his influence was present in each step of a process that took two thousand years?
I’m sure that more than a few Catholics reading this will start to feel some doubt. What if all this is true? What if I’ve been praying to Satan all my life?
God would not permit this. It would be irrational for there to be a good God and for Him never to reveal himself to humanity, but to permit a fallen angel to do so for the sake of causing evil.
If a good God existed (in addition to the version of Satan above) he would know what his adversary was up to and would try to counter it. He would also know that his adversary would try to distort whatever teaching he tried to impart. So this good God would beat Satan by embedding in his human creation something to counter Satan’s deception: doubt.
No. The good God would act directly, for if He permits the Adversary to act directly, he would not allow His Adversary to have greater power than He.

I find the arguments presented too unconvincing for me to be motivated to argue against them. Maybe somebody else can. But from my point of view, if there is a good, logical God, then the scenario presented is not believable because that is not how a good, logical God would act. I could only be convinced by it if I didn’t believe in the existence of a good God in the first place.

It’s hard for satan to hide his cloven hooves (metaphorically speaking)!

There would be obvious clues.

Christ came to bring us life, peace, community/oneness, but His way is narrow and sometimes hard.

Some interesting points, but all of which have more holes in them than Swiss cheese. So numerous are these floors in the arguments presented, that I am not going to waste my time and effort listing and rebuking them. I think I’ll pray instead.
God bless

Well it was wrote by a non believer. Are Catholics worshipping Satan, no. Is Satan out there performing miracles and fooling people yes, God said it himself to watch out for it.

You are correct.

that is ridiculous, even a child knows the difference between right and wrong.
so if you belong to a church that allows wrong doing then you are worshiping the devil/satan. on the otherhand catholics teach the basics and are the most strictest church on guidelines to help live a christian life…as a catholic i know and am sure that i worship the Lord God and only Him.

Is it possible to worship something without realising it? i.e. to worship Satin without meaning to?

No, it isn’t.

What rubbish !!! that was by far the most idiotic anti-catholic web site I have ever seen.

First off, IF the Catholic church were worshipping the devil why on earth would the Church be advocating worship of God, and why would we be telling folks to do good deeds.

The bishops and priests would be promoting hatred and selfishness and it would be encouraging folks to ignore the commandments.

The writers logic is all twisted and non-sensical. What a bunch of phony baloney knucleheads !!! Anyone who buys into that ****, ought to have their heads examined. I can’t belive some morons on their comment page agreed with them.

Hahaha i believe our free thinker was bored and decided to write whatever came to his head. He should become a lawyer; all his clients will be imprisoned.
Ubenedictus

I believe that we can worship Satan without realizing it. Just look at all the people worshiping television without realizing it.

If Satan possessed the Pope, and his horde of demons took over every priest, bishop, and archbishop in the Vatican, would Catholics find out?
“And so I say to you, you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of the netherworld shall not prevail against it.”
  • Matthew 16:18
Satan will never triumph over the Church, but he will lead as many souls as he can away from her. Can we be caught in the devil’s traps while navigating everyday life? Yes. That’s why prayer and vigilance is necessary.

Boy, everybody is forgetting the Angels.
What are they doing? Just sitting around seeing Satan doing its job and sipping beer?
It is a scandal, everybody talks about the dEvil forgetting our Defenders…
